If you've ever been a fan of wrestling video games, even if it's some dimly remembered title from your childhood, this book is an absolute must-buy, as it gives you details on the development, gameplay, and genre relevance of each and every one of them.Beyond the fact that the cover was done by the amazing Rusty Shackles, I didn't really know what to expect from this volume. After all, I worked at WWE as well as on the WWE Games at both THQ and 2K, and even wrote a complete history of professional wrestling in The Comic Book Story of Professional Wrestling; all this stuff should be old hat to me, right?WRONG. The most shocking thing to me about this volume was learning how much I didn't know. This deeply researched tome is something I wish I had been able to keep on my desk during my time working on the WWE Games, and will continue to pull off my bookshelf and flip through - either searching for a specific game, or just out of curiosity - for years to come.

This book is big and in depth. If you like wrestling, you'll like this one. It has endless amounts of wrestling games, but it's honestly too much. The book covers any game with a hint of wrestling (like Monster Truck Madness and Guacamelee) and it could have helped the length greatly by passing over some or all of these wrestling adjacent games. However, it's not a bad title by any means and worth a purchase.

I didnt see the book was black and white. All the others are in full color in this series. What gives?

Booked just arrived and it's in horrible condition. Bent spine, pages and cover. I can't give this as a gift like I had hoped to. 👎🏼

The book itself is ok but the company has yet to send out orders to backers on Kickstarter. Buyer beware.

I've been collecting wrestling games for a long time, for the systems I have of course. This book has shown me a few that I've missed, and without this book I might not have ever found them.

Stupidly I saw this and despite it clearly saying black and white, I didn't read that part. Good info in the book though.

Ich kann mich dem 5-Sterne-Rezensenten nur anschließen. Es handelt sich um ein sehr umfangreiches Werk, welches sich mit Wrestling-Spielen von 1983 bis 2019 beschäftigt.Das Buch ist in englischer Sprache, die Artikel sehr schön stets gleichmäßig aufgebaut. Zuerst eine Passage zur Entwicklung, dann zum Roster, zum Matchumfang, zur Steuerung, ggf. zu Änderungen zu Vorgängern oder Ähnlichkeiten zu Konkurrenten und weitere Infos.Beispiel: Bei WWF-RAW von 1994 werden die Versionen ebenfalls verglichen; spielte ich selbst nur die SNES-Version damals, war ich überrascht, dass die 32X-Version ein erweitertes Roster (mit Crush, Macho-Man und sogar Kwang) hatte.Was allerdings bei einigen Artikeln auffäöllt, ist, dass einige Bilder in den Artikeln doppelt vorkommen.Beispiele: WWE-Allstars (Seite 189); The Rock vs. Big-Show ist 2x dasselbe Bild. Bei WWE-Wrestlemania 21 (Seite 172); Batista, Big Show, Bubba Ray, Chris Jericho ist ebenfalls 2x dasselbe Bild vorhanden.Da dies allerdings nur vereinzelt vorkommt und das Buch dennoch fast schon ein Einkaufsberater für mich ist, gebe ich dennoch 5-Sterne.(So ein Buch wäre zudem auch interessant, wenn man dies im Spielegenre der Beat-em-Up-Games kreieren würde...)

Wrestling-Spiele, was gibt's da? Das jährliche WWE-Update, ein paar billig gemachte Mobile-Spiele und primitive, häßliche Spiele aus der Videospiel-Steinzeit. Könnte man meinen.In diesem sehr schön aufgemachten Buch werden aber rund 500 Spiele vorgestellt, mit vielen Screenshots und mit interessanten Infos zu ihrer Entstehung. Sogar Flipperautomaten und LCD-Handhelds werden besprochen, dazu gibt es ein Kapitel, wie umgekehrt Videospiele Wrestling-Charaktere beeinflussen, und vieles mehr.Großartiges Buch von einem Fan, in dem sicher jeder Leser massenhaft Spiele entdecken kann, von denen er noch nichts wußte. Leserinnen natürlich auch.
