I was hesitant to get this because a lot of people mentioned that it had a very strong foul odor and it needed to air out outside. It didn't have any odor at all. It was also the perfect color and style that I was looking for to upholster my dining room chairs. It's the perfect thickness to be durable, but easy to cut and work with. Overall, very happy with the product and would order more for other projects in the future.

I ordered the brown Torrami to recover the seats on our antique dining room chairs. When I opened the package, I was surprised at the color. Instead of brown, the color was a deep tannish rose (with emphasis on the rose), but, by happy coincidence, the color was a close match to the rose accent color in the pattern of our dining room rug. So, I didn't send the fabric back. The second thing I noticed was the smell. Definitely very fishy. I ran it through several cycles in a hot dryer -- which took out wrinkles, but didn't do much for the smell. Because the smell seemed to come exclusively from the back of the fabric, not the front, I decided to cover one seat to see if the smell was noticeable. As it tuned out, the finished seat didn't smell at all. I now have covered all four seats and they are odorless even though the unused, extra fabric still smells bad enough that I put it in a plastic bag to store it in the attic. The fabric has a matte-satin finish -- not shiny -- and looks enough like real leather to be appropriate on our antique chairs. It is soft and easy to cut with fabric shears and worked well for my project. I tested a scrap by scratching it with a nail. I had to scrape hard a number of times before the top layer came off. So, our chair seats will probably last. I wouldn't use this fabric to upholster anything which would see a lot of cat or dog action because it isn't very thick and the vinyl layer, although durable, is fairly thin. Although I am very happy with my rose-colored dining room chair seats, I dinged the review one star because the fabric wasn't brown as advertised.

This is pretty nice fabric, all things considered. Other reviews cautioned that there's a distinct odor to the vinyl, but for the price and quality others mentioned, I was willing to try it. There IS an odor, but I hung the vinyl out on my clothesline for a day or two (no rain) and the smell dissipated. I needed to reupholster some stools for my classroom, so I was able to use 1 yard to cover all 4 stools. Very happy with how the vinyl was easy to work with. They look much better now, and I actually had a compliment from the teacher who previously used the stools before handing them down to me... she barely recognized them!

The leather and actual product it's pretty good but the smell. I saw some reviews were people have said it came smelling bad and that was an understatement. Smells like it was stored with dead fish. Going to leave it outside in the rain and spray something because the fabric still is pretty good.
