The Silicon edge guard is great for desks.
The Silicon edge guard is great for desks. We picked up a new desk from Office Depot that looked great online only to find they were not made of real wood. Rather its a very thin film with a picture of wood. Its glued to composite board. The wood would scratch super easy and the edges got nicked every time the chair hit the desk. We should have installed the edge guard as soon as we put the desk together. This silicon kit has everything you need to install the guard and its not exactly hard. But you do need to clean both surfaces, a steady hand putting on the double sided tape and a good eye to keep the silicon straight while laying it on top of the tape. I measured the silicon and cut it to size. After cleaning the surface I put on the tape slowly trying not to stretch it while going in a straight line - 6" at a time. Used the included plastic straight edge tool I flatten the tape against the desk getting as many air bubbles out as possible. Then starting at a inside corner I pulled 6" of tape off and using a steel ruler (to keep guard straight) laid down the silicon guard. When I didnt use the ruler - the guard went down with waves as I pressed it down. Once I finished attaching about 6" of guard on the tape I wiped a little WD40 on the plastic corner tool (to help it slide) and gently pressed the silicon down on top of the tape. That removed bubbles and made sure it made good tape contact. Even being careful the silicon somehow got stretched out a bit and was longer than it needed to be. I let it setup like that for a day before trimming it to the right size in case it decided to shrink back to its original size. My first edge didn't look great but the other edges came out much better once I got the hang of it. Hope this helps.

Works
I bought this product for a window sill that my one year old was biting. I did put this product directly on the painted surface (not recommended per instructions!), however I was desperate for a fix to keep my son from biting off pieces of plaster. It works to protect the sill from my toddler (ironically not the other way around). I do expect it to peel off the paint when I remove it, but I have to repair the sill/wall either way from aforementioned toddler. The product is easily cut with scissors to fit and I could see many uses for it to protect wall corners from damage, table edges, etc. Do pay attention to surfaces it doesnโt recommend to attach to when purchasing this product. The adhesive is strong as it is meant to be and will peel paint up, but it is not hard to remove.

Pretty good.
The material wouldnโt stay in place on the corners (kept slipping off, even though it was nice and tight). And the adhesive wore off on most of it after a while. Would have liked it if it had lasted longer.

Adhesive down FIRST!
This was a pain to put on until I realized that you had to lay the STICKY SHTUFF FIRST! On whatever surface youโre putting these on. Once theyโre set though, theyโre great. And look nice too actually. One thing though is if you really want them to stay..use the hell out of that yellow โspreader/putty knifeโ thing. And when I say use it, I mean, you gotta lean into it hard. Itโs basically pressing out all the air bubbles while spreading the adhesive throughout. Great product though, love it.

Terrible. Messy and damaging.
Do not use this on a painted surface. I used this product to prevent damage to my refrigerator door from a wall adjacent to it. I watched the video and read the instructions. The double sided tape was a disaster to use. Stuck to the packaging, stuck to itself while trying to apply it to the surface, and it resulted in uneven application. Once the bumper went on the wall, it looked terrible. Once I tried to remove it, it proceeded to remove the paint along with the bumper. Not damage free as advertised. Nothing on the description says to not use this on painted surfaces. Definitely look elsewhere or find a way to use a known adhesive that wonโt damage surfaces.

Just What I Needed
I ordered an amazing glass/mirror two-level coffee table from Amazon and I didn't want to hide the beauty of it by placing the brown or white bumpers on it to protect my toddler grandchildren, but I had to do something. The clear bumper strips were a dream come true. I ordered the 20ft strip and the product was as described. The glue roll was a little tricky and frustrating at times, but the instructions makes it very clear to be careful when applying; hence the bubbles under the strips in the pictures. The strip was very flexible and soft, which made it easy to cut for the sizes I needed. I was able to cover all four sides of the top of the table and three of the sides on the bottom. I used the little that what was left to cover the sharp edges on the leg of the table (see picture). I am very happy with this product and have ordered another 20ft roll to cover the other side of the bottom of the coffee table and the matching end table I just ordered. Highly recommend.

Not great for the anal retentive
So, maybe I'm just really not good at the application, but this thing ended up looking terrible. I got it as a way to defend my sensitive bits on my wrists from damage from the sharp edges of my work-from-home computer desk, where I often rest my arms. I did my best to apply it, but there were multiple issues that resulted in it looking like a toddler's art project. 1. The tape doesn't roll off the roll well. It often will stick to the next layer, resulting in the tape getting pulled, stretched, and torn. I wasted a good bit of tape getting the thing pulled off the roll so I could apply it. 2. The tape doesn't apply evenly to the surface. Since the tape comes in a roll, it has a tendency to get to a point where it ends up bunching up on the surface, overlapping, and causing uneven thickness to the tape. This results in the final product being uneven, with high points and low points. Not ideal for my purposes. 3. It's very difficult to get the final product applied evenly to the tape. There's areas where the tape gets pushed out so it extends beyond the plastic. There's areas where the plastic doesn't quite fit right into the corner of the desk, resulting in differences in height across the length. Perhaps I could try to reapply from scratch, and I could maybe get a more even application. 4. Bubbles. The plastic doesn't apply perfectly to the tape, with air bubbles in places, and others where the tape just doesn't adhere quite the same as it does in other places. This causes a fairly awful-looking "bubble" type appearance. Kind of like applying a protective cover to a cell phone, but where you don't bother cleaning the cell phone surface at all. It just doesn't look good. 5. The product is quite a bit thicker than I was expecting. This isn't the product's fault, it's mine for not taking more care with the dimensions of the product. Just leaving it here for others who might find it useful. It's too thick to be comfortable resting my arms on. For it's official purpose of making a safer corner for accidental bumps on a baby's head, it's probably fine.

Edge protection
This worked perfectly for my application. I used this to protect to granite countertop ruff edge between my range and the countertop on both sides. Because my floor was resurfaced, my range sits a little higher than the granite countertop. The facing edge on both sides has a tendency to pop up but I have enough extra material to reapply it correctly. I think I pulled on the rubber edging too much while applying. This is important NOT to stretch the rubber edging especially near the edge. My second picture shows the facing edge on one side is slowly popping up. It easily stuck back down but I feel it was my mistake applying too much pull pressure while applying. The surface on both sides of the range countertop has remained in place with no issues. For me, this is the perfect filler between the range and the countertop and the 1/8โ gap on either side the range and the countertop. The clear edging almost disappears from view.

Sticks and holds
Was intentionally looking for a "cut-to-purpose" one, as this way the thing becomes more functional and universal: you can stick it to sofa's / bed's legs too, for example - makes the impact with your foot fingers softer. Yes, it sort of makes sharp edges less sharp, it's not a cushion. Followed the instructions when sticking in up, everything holds. Now even tried using just small pieces of tape for the bottom side (one of the photos shows it, though it's difficult to see) - also holds, just make sure you fix it well on both ends, no need to pull as you stick it on. Tried removing on a small piece of wooden table - all fine, will be careful when removing longer ones anyway.
