I only drink cold brew coffee due to acid issues. Making a cup on the fly is impossible, due to the need for it to brew for 24 hours. I typically make cold brew coffee concentrate once a week. That means sometimes I wake up and have no access to coffee, unless I go buy a cup retail. Yeah, not a good start to the day. I set out on a quest for freeze-dried cold brew for emergencies & found Cusa, on desertcart. PHENOMENAL freeze-dried coffee. I’m partial to the light & medium roasts. It comes in a variety of flavors, too. Cusa Cold Brew won’t replace cold brewing my own concentrate, but it’s perfect for emergencies, can be mixed in cold water, and it’s easily transported (packaged in individual servings). Review: BEST Instant Chai Coffee Ever! - I've been looking for a Chai flavored instant coffee to take on backpacking trips for months, but all of them have so many additives and extra ingredients. I really like that Cusa keeps it simple. If you want to add sugar or dairy you can, but the coffee is plenty flavorful without it. With my order of the Dirty Chai flavor they also sent me a free sample packet of their Mango Black Tea. So thoughtful! I can't wait to take this on my next backcountry trip... but chances are I'll drink all of it here at home and need to order more before then.

good but still a bit bitter
my biggest struggle with coffee in general is the bitterness. so when I found that I could tolerate light roast, I began taste testing all the light roast branded coffees (both ground & instant) these travel packets are great for on the go, and to my taste buds - I get chocolate & blackberry notes - but it can get overshadowed by that coffee bitternes. it's not as bad as medium or dark roast, and it's manageable, but I figured I'd offer up the opinion of a picky supertaster

Finally, A Great Tasting Instant Coffee
This is a great tasting instant coffee, that doesn’t taste like instant. It perfect for traveling. I really like that it works for both hot and cold. It’s easy to just pour it into a water bottle, shake, and it’s ready with no lumps. There is no bitter taste, or that horrible processed taste most instant coffees have. I’ve ordered several times, and will continue to.

If you must drink instant, this one’s pretty good
To preface, instant coffee cannot be compared in the same category as regular coffee: Apples and oranges. BUT, if you find yourself in a situation in which you must drink instant coffee (e.g. backpacking, airplane, long bus ride, ultramarathon, etc) this is one of the “best” options at a decent price. I found this quite drinkable; the vanilla isn’t sweet or overly flavored, but instead nicely hides any chemical tastes. In contrast, the Cusa Coffee Dark Roast (non-vanilla) tastes extremely chemically. This coffee is tolerable when made with cold/room temp water as well, and actually dissolves, which makes it super useful in an emergency coffee situation in which you only have a bottle of water to mix it with. This is certainly not a replacement for regular ground non-instant coffee, but in some situations, it is a decent option!

Tastes Fishy
This is possible the worst tasting instant coffee we have ever tried. Both my husband and I could not get through even one cup. We gave some to our employees and all of us noted it tastes fishy. No refund policy on the product either. What a disappointment!!!!!

At least my wife likes it...
I originally purchased these for camping. I placed them in my pack, and I wish I could say these were good, but before I knew it, my wife decided to consume them before I had a chance to give it a taste. When I say consume it, I mean the packets "disappeared" and were gone in a few days. That's saying something as she's not a coffee drinker when we're camping. I "secretly" ordered more and hid them for MY use. So, we'll see. But from her initial impression of the product? Well, she confessed to me that she loves them. They are super easy to use. Add hot water and you're good to go. She likes to "spice" it up by adding instant chocolate to make it richer and she says, "tastes great". Not sure if that is meant to be done, but what works, works. Perfect for camping (and casual drinking at home). So, if you're a fan of quality coffee infused with Chai, then you cannot go wrong. According to my wife, and I trust her, she says that from now on this is her 'go-to' coffee.
