Avalon Organics Hand & Body Lotion, Nourishing Lavender, 32 Oz

I'll start by saying this is an excellent hand lotion. It's smooth, soaks in fast and leaves my hands feeling soft. The lavender scent is wonderful I love it. Now for the packaging: The cardboard used to protect the dispenser should be revised if possible. It is not the easiest removal process. The cap was loose and lotion had leaked out around the cap and down the sides. Hopefully it hadn't been opened but just came loose in packing and shipping. It's a great product but needs better dispenser packaging.

This is the same formula I have used in the past, and it remains economical and effective. As a practicing princess, I require lotion that moisturizes, does not irritate and stays within budget. This does all three. It is absorbed quickly so I don't leave fingerprints on everything after using it. It is very lightly scented so my granddaughter, who is also a princess and who doesn't usually care for lavender, is not overwhelmed by the odor. I hope they never change the formula because they have a winner right now.

I've tried a lot of products from Avalon Organics through the years. I remember their Lavender body wash and lotion were some of my favorites. I bought the smaller lotion size at my local Sprouts and finished it within a week. The scent was so much better than I remembered and I was constantly using it. It honestly smells like if you crush dry Lavender buds in your hand. The scent that it releases is a deep and pure Lavender which I feel the lotion really captures. It's a powerful scent, some may like it, some may hate it. I feel like I smell notes of Lemon, but it's mostly just Lavender. I wasn't able to go back to the store so soon, so Amazon was my next choice. I got a bigger body lotion and a body wash. I'm extremely disappointed by the lotion this time. It smelled incredibly MUSTY. It smelled as if they left it under the sink for weeks and the natural odor of the pipes went into the bottle. I've done that unintentionally at my own home with linen sprays so trust me when I say I know how it happens/smells. The body wash smelled better, but not as intense as the lotion which was just disappointing. Maybe I just got a bad batch but I recommend getting it locally if you can. I'd give it 1 star for the bottle itself, but I won't let the condition of it influence my rating. It's easily a 5 star product. The scent is very pure, and the ingredients are really good. I especially love that it has Aloe leaf juice and Shea butter. I can really feel it when I use the lotion/body wash, especially on my dry hands.

Before getting to the positives: for the first time ever, in 4+ years of ordering this product, the bottle arrived open within the safety cling-wrap packaging and lotion smeared around. I won't be using this bottle as it was most likely opened. Disappointed in the packaging and handling, not the product itself. As the title of the review says, I've been using this lotion for over 10 years -- probably closer to 15, actually, since I first got this when it was still being repackaged and sold by Trader Joe's. When they discontinued it in 2020 I was heartbroken, and some searching led me to the original Avalon Organics product. I love lavender-scented things, and this lotion stands out for actually smelling like actual lavender. More than that, though, this lotion formulation is the ONLY hand/body lotion I have ever found that doesn't leave any kind of "residue" feeling for me -- and I have tried so, so, SO many alternatives. It moisturizes my skin and leaves it soft, but it's not heavy or greasy; it sinks in quickly without feeling like it's not doing anything. Absolutely the best lotion I've ever used, I'm so glad I grabbed the $4.99 bottle on a whim at TJ's back in 2010 or 2011 or whenever it was. If this is ever discontinued I'm going to be absolutely inconsolable.

I was not too happy with the way the lotion arrived, the pump was not locked so upon receipt, lotion was squirted through out the box. If I can make a suggestion, when this lotion is sent with the pump, maybe seal the locked pump so it doesn’t pop up. Thank you.

I hate the smell, hence the 3 stars. It does the job and moisterized well though. Bought it for the clean ingredients, so will cope up with the smell.

Organic product with out parabens and toxic chemicals! Love this product and use it daily after showering. I have used a variety of other lotions but was searching for an organic one without parabens. This does the job and leaves me feeling hydrated and smelling nice (lavender) afterwards.
