The Scribbler follows Suki (Katie Cassidy), a young woman confronting her destructive mental illness using "The Siamese Burn," an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. The closer Suki comes to being "cured," she's haunted by a thought... what if the last unwanted identity turns out to be her?

If you consider yourself a bit Eccentric and Independent, you'll welcome the diversity.
If you start watching this movie without knowing it is a super hero origin, it may take 'till the end to see it clearly as it was for me, I didn't know it was originally a graphic novel, which I have not read. Even though it is a super hero origin, there is not much action, but there are some entertaining weird things happening. The story does seem relatable due to it's more down to earth events. If you are as worn out as I am from all the commercial super hero movies being put out like running cattle through a branding chute, this will be a different experience. If Independent Comics, are a good detachment from the commercial brand, it's worth watching it.

Intriguing, but sophomoric
PROs✔ Strong cast... very strong (more on that in the Comment section).✔ Heavily stylized visuals for appealing to both graphic novel and neo-noir moviegoers.CONs✘ Not half as clever as it thinks it is.✘ Bad dialogue. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with The Movie Guy this time: the script is crap. Sooo disappointing that these accomplished actors weren't given better material to work with.COMMENT:¿¿ It's a bit puzzling why there are only two dozen reviews here for a film released fully two years ago featuring actors from several serials with huge fan bases and even fandoms. Occam's razor suggests this is because The Scribbler just isn't all that great.✝️🗡 Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion. The whole reason I found The Scribbler in the first place was to see what Michelle Trachtenberg is up to these days. Low and behold, not only was Buffy's kid sister onscreen as an antagonist, but so was Eliza Dushku (aka Faith, the foil Slayer from Whedon's Buffyverse) as Silk, a criminal psychologist.👽👽 The 4400 reunion. Another cult show (although not as popular as Buffy), and another pair: Billy Campbell (aka Jordan Collier), and Garret Dillahunt (aka Matthew Ross). I can see why Garret Dillahunt signed on (who would not want to be in a practically softcore scene with Katie Cassidy? Yes, Katie Cassidy is naked in this movie), but poor Billy Campbell must not have known he was signing up for an anemic flick (I'm sure this film looked good on paper... no pun intended).🎇 🎆 Not to mention, we get Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) as Detective Moss, Gina Gershon (Showgirls) as Cleo, Richard Riehle (a man with 347 acting credits to his name, and a personal favorite) as Officer O'Reilly (a cop who's encountered one too many donuts), and if all that wasn't enough, Bunny was portrayed by Sasha Grey, former porn star gone legit.⚠️ Somebody thought it would be a good idea to add a patient who walks around nude, just for the hell of it... I'll admit, the gimmick did keep me from falling asleep... but when a flick needs to resort to that, it is reaching.

A classic case of style over substance
Here is yet another film I went into mostly blind and...it was ok. There were some plot elements that recalled SUCKER PUNCH and MEMENTO, but for the most part it was its own thing and very distinguishable from those. The plot is about Suki, a mental patient with dis-associative identity disorder who is undergoing treatment with a machine that is supposed to "burn" away those extra, unwanted personalities. There have also been a recent rash of deaths of which she is the prime suspect. The best thing I can say about this movie is that it has a very cool visual style and some decent effects and action despite the low budget. Sure, the rain-soaked, color-corrected, graphic novel-esque look has been done to death in the years since SIN CITY came out, but this one felt original enough that it was interesting to watch in that regard. However, I thought that the story brought nothing new to the table, and was equal parts silly and stupid. And, despite a "who's who" of character actors filling out the cast none of the performances were that memorable, let alone great. Katie Cassidy does fine in the lead role as Suki, but she never shows much range. All of the other characters border on caricature and are only there as the plot requires them to be. Also, the plot was very thin and only really does something with it in the last act with a twist that can be seen from a mile away. So, if you like comic books and/or graphic novels and you're looking for something different, by all means check this out. However, if you require a little more from your movie than cool visuals and the barest minimum of a plot then maybe you should skip this one. (2.5/5)

Descent, reminds me of sucker punch
Kind of reminds me of Sucker Punch, but this is a bit darker and lower budget, but the lower budget works, they make good use with the S.E. in this and even though I went in not expecting much, it turned out to be a good movie. It stars Katie Cassidy from Arrow, and I didn't even know it was her for quite a while into the movie (piercings and short blonde hair and make up made her look so different lol), also Michelle Trachtenberg (from buffy and yes I probably spelled her name wrong), and lets not forget eliza dushku, also stars in this and I didn't know it was her as well. Anyway just noticed there was no reviews and I thinks this was a good movie and it gets my 4 stars. Like sucker punch the girls are dealing with insanity and killings, and not much more to really say without giving too much away.

Can't stop thinking about this movie
I don't know why I like it so much. I think I expected one thing and it delivered something else - something better. My only regret is I didn't buy the comic book at the same time so I could explore the story from that perspective.

Great indie film
Low budget and it shows in the production quality, but I don't mind. Its a great movie, it has an unexpected cast and the indie horror/sci-fi vibe makes this movie one of my favorites. I expect this to turn into a cult classic in the coming years, if it isn't already.

... too much away I will simply say that I like movies that are not obvious where they are going
Trying not to ruin the movie by giving too much away I will simply say that I like movies that are not obvious where they are going, so things can suprise you and you find the gears turing in your head trying to puzzel it out. This movie does that in spades! Unpredictible with a continiously evolving storyline. Best movie I have seen in a long time. Though it may not be for everyone, it was great in my humble opinion.

a little scary, no trick- all treat
Bought this to watch Katie Cassidy at work, I really enjoyed her season on Supernatural. The woman has chops! This film would be a waste of time without her crafting many fine performances. It's great to witness her stretching her acting boundaries, far beyond her television characters. If you like her other work, you'll love this performance.
