Deep and Artistic
The book is put together almost like a journal, and you see glimpses of man looking back on a traumatic life. The prose are poetic and this poetry becomes more abstract as the narrator's mind does the same. The narrator touches on profound topics and displays a social consciousness around politics, foreign policy, and American capitalism. I found myself wondering how much of this book was autobiographical and how much pure imagination on the author's part. I read it in one afternoon.I will be keeping an eye out for more work from this author.

Excellent book written in thought provoking views.
A look inside a darkening soul. Views re-imagined of past in the order of the escaping mind. This book of memories vividly follows the past and present relationship of a man with the struggle of life and its companion death. Written in thought-provoking viewpoints, this book will continually cause you to turn the page wondering where or what you will experience next. You will read stories of not just him but of people he has seen, known, and loved. He can feel their life, their experience, their sorrow. It is not just his personal experiences that create thought and reflection, but those of people who have made him who he is as well. This is a must-read book for everyone. I found myself relating to many points and experiences in this book. I read it fast due to its page-turning qualities, but I would recommend taking your time reading and reflecting on each piece. I’m looking forward to future work by DPK.

Don't Burn Through This!!
This was a great read and heavy at that. Dana Patrick Kelly takes you on a journey through his childhood in the mid-west, to the sands of the Middle East and the present day. His words are thought provoking, dark at times, and forces you to stop and ponder, even question the depth of his philosophy, world view and life experiences. His words come to life as he describes the workshop of his father, riding down the stairs in a laundry basket, the humid mid-west to the trauma room. I could smell the cigarettes and coffee brewing in the early morning, a routine I suppose, his father did for 35 years. The title of the book is truly in tone of the theme. Speaking out. He conveys some important truth in what he shares. Take some time during your read to reflect upon what he is trying to convey to himself and you the reader.

Masterful Piece of Literature
Read through the book in a sitting. Very engaging and insightful. Dana beautifully gives the reader insight into a persons mind. More specifically his mind. We all suffer from events in our lives. Both inflected upon us by others and self inflicted. He is raw and engaging. The words jump out of the paper like beautifully composed music tickles the ears of the listener.Dana is not alone in his thoughts or battles. Thank you for sharing and allowing yourself to be vulnerable.

Provoking and deep
What an interesting read! Well written, deep, and troubling, it'll make you think. Written in what seemed to me a diary style, this book gives an interesting look at the decline of the metal state of an average man, he could be you. I recommend reading it twice, first strait through then again taking your time to absorb the details; I missed a bunch on my first pass though.

Enthralling and deep
Quick read. Beautifully descriptive, raw and often dark. The author uses short, captivating tales to take the reader through several significant life events chronicling love and pain, loss and dissonance, nostalgia and struggles. Reads like a cathartic expression that is both thought-provoking and heart-wrenching at times. Can’t wait to read more from DPK!

Descriptive work of art!
A sliced and diced look into the mind of dpk spanning memories as a toddler to present day. From life growing up in the Midwest, serving in the military, becoming a husband and father and sorting out moments in between. A true descriptive work of art!

Read it straight through, couldn't put it down!
A great read! It truly goes to show that you never know what someone is holding onto inside their mind. You never know what someone has been through. That smile you see might be searing pain on the inside.
