Carefree Of Colorado HD Awning Stabiliz'r Pole Kit - Awning Pole & Tie Down Kit - RV Awning Support & Accessories (108" Extended Length)

I’ve used these on several trailers with Carefree awnings, and they’ve all held up great, even in very heavy winds. Most failures are the result of improper setup, or over tightening straps or connections, as evidenced by the photos that have been posted.

Credit to Amazon for taking this "junk" back. Many flaws...in order of importance: ~ The "cradle" on the top that holds the awning drum has a socket for the pole-pin that is ridiculously flimsy. Instead of a 1/4" hole in a solid chunk of plastic, this thing has a flimsy "spiderweb" design that failed after 2 uses. ~ The tie-down strap is useless. The wind just spools the strap back out of the nonsense that is passed off as a clamp. Pointless...to the degree that a mild puff of wind pulled the strap, the awning lifted off the pole, and the pole hit my wife on the head! ~ The locking mechanism to set the length of the poles works well, but fundamentally it's a 1/4"x20 nut with a plastic knob just pushed onto it. In this case, the nut should be molded into the knob, but it's just a press fit. One knob fell off on the first use. Yes, I can put it back, but the lightweight plastic knob can blow away easily. I had to chase mine down...on day one! ~ After just two weekends, the padding in the cradle in which the awning drum rests was coming off. Visually, this thing is brilliant in its design, but the execution is dreadful. And given that a VERY expensive awning is depending on this thing to reinforce it in modest wind, this poor execution is more of a hazard than a help. Add insult to injury with the price of this thing, and I'm a VERY unhappy camper. Carefree should be ashamed of putting such a ridiculous contraption on the market.

Very easy to use. Like that I can release rod with twist of a knob Update on my review. I have 2 sts of these supprt poles. The knob broke on 1 pole. This FABULOUS COMPANY responded immediately to my email and shipped a new set. I had w/in a week. Very Impressed with their product and their customer service

I bought these for my RV. It has an 18' awning design that has no support arms similar to those in the photo. I am not sure of the engineer who designed it, but they seem to be pretty well detached from reality. An awning that cantilevers off the side of your RV 9' with no support at all? Then consider how poorly RV construction is. The awning mounts may or may not be screwed into anything substantial. On its best day it is a poor design. I believe even with no wind or wind gusts these awnings would rip the mounting screws out. If you are unsure do an internet search and you will find tons of complaints related to this design. I shake my head as to why any reputable RV manufacturer would include them on their rigs from the factory other than they don't care. The awning manufacturer provides a solution - These supports are essentially prop rods that prop rods that support the unsupported roller of the extended awning. They are easily adjusted for height. They are provide an arguably even more important function of holding down the awning in the event of light winds through the ingenious way the straps are routed. This product is well thought out and well made. The only downside is they are probably twice as expensive as they should be. There are many cheap DIY solutions out there, but I did not have the time to mess with them.

These do their job... somewhat. The strap tightening doesnt work. They loosen themselves almost immediately, especially with any flapping from a breeze. I've had to tie them off to keep them tight. Also, the tightening nut has to be REALLY tight for the poles to not collapse. If you do that, and tie a knot to keep the straps tight (or buy your own tensioning buckle), they work well. The plastic parts also feel quite cheap. I hope they last...

I love being able to leave our awning out without worrying about wind or rain. We are in Texas, and the weather can change on a dime. We live in our motorhome, and these supports are a godsend. We're on our second kit because we had an unexpected storm that knocked out one support, bending it. We purchased the supports after buying our Sun Shade Screen, and it keeps everything secure, even on windy days. We put clips on the support ropes so they can't come off the awning.

I had one of the half circle ends break and one of the tightening knobs strip out. Also the strap tightening rings slip so you have to tie them off. Customer service sent me some, but not all of the replacement parts I needed after 3 months and reminding them several times. The CS guy was doing his best but the parts dept. was dropping the ball, so he said. If you have an automatic awning, make sure you shut it off after extending it, or when the wind comes up it will try to close and break stuff. When you hook the strap to the upper pole, you need to bring it over the top of the awning tube and then wrap it around the pole before tying it off to a stake or it will fall off. Hook the strap to a good heavy ground stake not a cheap tent stake or it will pull out. Tighten the strap and tie it off, then raise the pole to get it really tight. Also make sure to use 2 stakes per pole base driven in at different angles to secure the bottom of the poles. I'm happy with them and they work great so far, but I am skilled enough to repair them and fabricate needed parts. The 2 star review is because they are not heavy duty at all. I wouldn't ever recommend the regular ones and they get bad reviews for getting destroyed in a light breeze.

Yeah man, this thing sucks. Design, materials, even packaging were all a nightmare. Go with another solution and thank me later. First, packaging. I ordered this, and had to return it twice due to busted box and missing parts bag. Took over a month to get one that had any of the parts with it. Second, design. I’ve got a Freestyle Evolution on my new camper van and the awning is suuuper sensitive to wind and rain. Can’t be used in the presence of either. So with that bad idea accepted as inevitable, these poles were supposed to be the solution. However, the design of the clamps for the lead rail are the crappiest I’ve ever seen. There are 10 ways this could have been done correctly and they chose none of them. That little bird mouth clamp barely fits the lead rail and can’t possibly hold against even a tiny breeze - It broke almost instantly. I suppose the poles are fine, but everything in the parts bag is pretty much garbage. While brings me to materials. This is made of the worst orange polystyrene ever molded. The plastic they chose should be packaging for gas station cupcakes, not saving your RV from thousands of dollars worth of damage.. Totally inadequate for the job. I was lucky enough to catch my awning and kick the poles away from my camper when a 10mph wind puff broke everything to pieces. You may not be as lucky. Find something - literally anything - else.

Item was as advertised. The only thing was that the packaging was in very poor shape and all taped up. All contents were inside and in good condition.
