The Nipit arrived at my home the very next day after ordering it. I was pretty excited to test it out on my 7-year-old. I planned to present it to him before bedtime. I was impressed with the idea of the Super Success Chart and colorful star stickers to keep track of his success. It was helpful to us because it gave him the incentive to remind me that he needed to put on the Nipit every night. He looked forward to the prize at the end of the 21 days. I also could tell it made him feel good every time he placed a star. The first night of wearing the Nipit, he was so pleased with himself, he slept through the night without sucking his thumb. During the day, he would request it sometimes because he would have a trigger and wanted to suck his thumb. This good behavior continued throughout the 21 days. I am so proud of him. He was determined to kick this habit. He had a few hiccups along the way, but for the most part, he stuck with it. I rooted for him every step of the way. He is now sleeping without the Nipit and is free of thumb sucking. I didn’t even have to use the childproof easylock system (zip ties). The velcro flaps and straps worked perfectly. The best part is I don’t have to pay to correct thumb-sucking teeth. At last, something that worked. I am so grateful for this product. I will be recommending it to everyone.

I think this product overall has a great design. And I definitely wish I would have found this and tried it several years ago. My daughter is 7, she has been wearing this every night and finger sucking continues. I’m afraid I’ll have to invest into orthodontist appointments in her future when she gets old enough to choose to stop bc it is messing up her teeth. I’m frustrated and out of hope. What started as a cute 2 yr old harmlessly sucking her finger became a years long battle of endless crying and talking and trying to break this horrible habit. She takes the contraption off during the night. I could use the zip ties but I kinda feel it’s a little over the top. So maybe part of problem is me. Needless to say it helped somewhat, I wouldn’t say it’s a bad product at all. And definitely use it as soon as you notice the behavior!! It’s says they can play and what not but she’s 7! She can’t eat snacks and she gets mad when trying to play. Anyone with a strong willed 7 year old girl might relate. So I give 4 stars bc I thinks it’s good product just didn’t get the results I hoped for.

This worked SO well, I'm honestly in shock. We went from 24/7 sucking to practically done within DAYS and a lot of grins from our kid that was so proud. Background: Our 4-year-old was the most determined thumb-sucker since birth and did it day and night. We waited and waited, doctor said not to worry until 4 since most kids stopped by then, but he was still doing it day and night well past his 4th birthday and had already developed a visible cross-bite. We probably should have started something a year ago, but so many of the other methods felt cruel or punitive. I'm not afraid of some tough-love where necessary, but I prefer gentle parenting when it's an option and it felt like it was especially important to be gentle with something that was such a source of comfort. Using the Product: We were able to make this a super positive experience that actually made him excited to wear it, which was amazing. He wasn't totally on board with why we needed to do it, but once we were able to make it fun he was all on board. We called it his "supercharged robot arm" and he added the fact that it gave him magical powers. When he wears it he can give "supercharged" high fives and hugs that are super powerful. We hammed it up when he gave us high-fives and hugs. We told him he could have as many as he wanted since it might be tough. The first day he was a little whiney, said he really missed his thumb, but I kept reminding him of his new magical powers. We also pretended his thumb and mouth were having a conversation. His mouth told his thumb that it wanted to be healthy and be able to taste the prize ice-cream. He would tell me a lot that his tongue missed his thumb and I told him his thumb said "No way mouth, I want to play!" He thought it was so silly that his mouth and thumb were fighting. This all pretty much stopped after the second day and now two weeks in he just loves showing off his supercharged high-fives to everybody we talk to. He found it comfortable and he was able to play just fine, but we took it off to eat. We just finished up the second week and he's barely wearing it during the day, pretty much just during quiet time when I'm not watching him. We've had test runs during shows and books and he hasn't even tried to suck his thumb. This was so easy and tear-free and I love that I can probably reuse it for little sister that will likely need it too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

It says that it's normal for the child to still be able to reach and suck their fingers but will get over that in a few days. We're on week 2 and my 3yo still goes for her fingers. I would say this product is about 80% effective. It seems like breaking the habit is going to be a long road for us and I don't blame the product for it. My biggest complaint about the product is that the velcro is sharp and scratches me a ton. I have scratches on my face, hands, and arms from my toddler wearing this. It makes it difficult for her to be around my newborn because I', worried it'll scratch the baby. I'd recommend the maker to add stitching around the velcros so it's not so scratchy. My toddler also gets itchy from having this product on. Whenever I take it off, she goes ham on her elbows and scratches like crazy and makes me feel so bad for making her keep it on all the time. I will say though, that my girl doesn't mind having it on when it is. She's still able to do her day to day activities only with a stiff arm. I get a lot of looks and people asking me if there's something wrong with her arm because it looks like she broke her arms lol. I hope this all pays off sooner rather than later!

These don’t work. My son has worn these unfortunately nightly since December- it is now May. I paid the 150$ and was hopeful. He still sucks his finger- he easily gets to it now- he is unbothered and his teeth are being pushed out. Don’t waste your money. It’s a joke.

This took about 6 weeks in total to stop the daytime thumb sucking in our five year old. The nighttime thumb sucking was harder to quit and took about five months. This device was pivotal - our five year old could not take it off and even thought it looked cool. We also used another physical device, a T-guard, that did not work well for us, and I sewed a small thumb cover which we used in the last month or so as it was more comfortable (developed a bit of eczema under the cuff from sweating a little at night). This was a very tough habit to break, and the nipit isn't perfect but it did the job and it is worth every penny. Definitely beats all the other alternatives, and our kid did not mind wearing it. What is more, once the daytime thumb sucking was over, her teeth, which had started protruding after five years of thumb sucking ACTUALLY STRAIGHTENED. Her teeth look amazing now. If you have a five year old and are skeptical that this device can save you the cost and pain of orthodontics in the future, I assure you this is the best 50 bucks you’ll ever spend.

Our 4 year old was ready to stop thumb sucking and very willing to wear the nipit. It worked well for three weeks, but then it started to fall apart (a piece of velcro just fell off) and generally just became looser, so we would tighten it enough in the morning to keep his thumb out but over the next hour or two would become too loose to be effective. It keeps his thumb out a lot of the time, but it seems that if he can suck it sometimes, it will not break the habit. For the price, we expected good quality that would last. We liked the idea of the nipit rather than nailpolish or a glove, but unfortunately it turned out to be poor quality and I recommend trying something else.

I have a six-year-old son and an eight-year-old daughter who have been sucking their thumbs since birth. Their teeth were affected by it. They both wanted to stop sucking their thumbs but they just couldn’t. I saw an ad for this and decided to try it. We put up the reward chart and started with my eight-year-old. She wore it 24 hours a day for the first two days. After the two days she was able to control herself during the day and only had to wear it at night. She wore it at night for three weeks before she officially didn’t need it anymore. The rewards chart was huge for her. It’s now been almost 2 months and she is completely broken of the habit and doesn’t have the urge to suck her thumb anymore. We then moved it to my six-year-old son. It was a little harder with him for the first week. He would turn it so that he can get his thumb in his mouth and he would take it off. I had to really pay attention and make sure I got it on just right or he would force his thumb into his mouth. We put up the rewards chart and after a couple days he started getting tired of fighting with it and after about a week he gave in and stopped messing with it. He is now almost to the two week mark without having sucked his thumb at all. He wore it 24 hours a day for the first week when he was fighting it and then for the second week after he gave in. He now only wears is at night. I had high hopes for this and it proved to be the perfect solution for both my kids. I am so happy I got this and have recommended it to everyone I know who has thumb suckers. I will be bringing in with me at the next dentist appointment to show their dentist as well. I am soooo glad we purchased this! Worth every penny!

La storia ha funzionato e, senza far riferimento al suo vizio, è stata collaborativa. Ha pianto solo prima di addormentarsi la prima notte, poi ha fatto un po’ di storie le tre notti successive. L’importante è non cedere e ad oggi siamo a metà della quarta settimana e sono 4 settimane che non mette più il dito in bocca nemmeno durante il giorno. La fascia è una gran mano d’aiuto. Per rinforzare ancora di più lo svezzamento dalla suzione del dito, quando si addormenta la notte le metto anche lo smalto amaro per far sì che il dito sia lontano anche durante il giorno. Anche se sembra che ormai il signor pollice sia solo un ricordo, continueremo ad utilizzarlo ad oltranza anche oltre la 5 settimana.

Thumb sucking has been a major issue with my daughter, but it’s now a thing of the past. And it’s all thanks to the Nipit thumb guard. My daughter is three years old, so she’s towards the lower range of the thumb guard but it fits on her nicely. Naturally, the majority of fitting it is down to the parent, but it’s a simple enough design. Fitting it doesn’t involve much of a struggle and it’s on pretty quickly. Most importantly it’s made from soft materials that are comfortable and haven’t caused any friction marks on my daughter. She’s happy to wear it and I put this down to the comfort on offer and the bright colourful design. And she’s stopped sucking her thumb! Naturally, she found the restrictive action of the thumb guard unusual at first, but she also seemed to enjoy the ceremony of putting the guard on. She wasn’t particularly happy that she couldn’t get her thumb to her mouth, but this soon subsided. It’s also much more preferable than the alternative methods available such as painting on that foul tasting nail polish. The stickers from the reward chart have also gone down a storm. We’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks, but there’s been a significant reduction in the time spent sucking her thumb when the guard is off. In about a month or so I think the thumb sucking will be completely eliminated. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

My daughter had a very strong finger sucking habit. Tried many times and various methods to break the habit but this was the only thing that worked for us. She sucked her middle and pointer finger, so traditional “thumb” sucking appliances didn’t fit. Motivation alone was not enough as she would fall asleep without the fingers but wake up to them in her mouth. Subconsciously she would get them there when sleeping. It’s a habit! The nail polish was absolute torture as it wouldn’t prevent her from sucking and she would just be left with a horrible taste in her mouth. Again she would subconsciously suck them during the night or in the morning and couldn’t help herself. No will power when you’re sleeping/groggy. This appliance actually prevents the bending of the arm so the child can’t pysically get the fingers to their mouth. It doesn’t hurt them, just restricts the motion. It’s a genius idea and really worked for us! After several weeks the habit was broken and the brace was no longer needed! Tips 1. Many kids that have a finger sucking habit also have a sensory habit. My daughters was sucking a corner of her bunny and tapping it against her nose while she was sucking her fingers. Take away the sensory object! They are associated with one another and this will work better if you break both habits at the same time. I know it seems cruel but bunny isn’t going anywhere and once the habit stops you can give it back! You can introduce a new stuffy to soften the blow. 2. Isolate the finger sucking to nighttime. During the day keep on top of them and remind them to remove their fingers. Give them an alternative to keep their hands busy like a pop it. This way you only have to wear the brace at night. I feel like wearing this all day would be tricky especially if they suck their dominant hand as they won’t be able to bend their arm. 3. Timing has to be right. Don’t do this when you have another big change going on like a new baby or starting school/daycare. It’s too much for them. For me I also found it easier when she stopped napping during the day and I only had to break the habit at night. Remember, permanent teeth come in around 5 years old. The best time to stop would be before then. But any age is fine - the sooner the better. 4. They need to be motivated to stop and actually want to wear it. Show them videos of other kids wearing the brace. The promotional ads for the nipit worked for us. Tell them stories of their favorite characters using the nipit. Whatever works, if they’re on board this will work much better. 5. Praise their progress! The sticker chart worked well. She looked forward to waking up and immediately putting a star on her chart. Little prizes/treats along the way.

El material utilizado en Nipt es de buena calidad, producto bien acabado, suave y resistente. Nos ha dado muy buen resultado, aunque cuesta adaptarse con el producto. Al principio era incómodo para el niño y no quería llevárselo puesto. Hemos utilizado el calendario y las pegatinas que venían con el Nipt, aparte le hemos premiado como motivación cada vez que lograba llevárselo puesto un rato. Al final se acostumbró y lo llevaba puesto incluso durante toda la noche. Lo recomiendo.

This is working great so far. Our son is 5 and we thought he is big enough not to suck thumb any more. He only sucks at night and when he holds his favourite cuddles. We decided the deadline was Easter Sunday and he agreed to start then. I called it his super arm that will give him superpowers to be able to stop sucking his finger. I encouraged him also by promising a toy he really wants at the end if we are successful in stopping completely. So far we are four days in and he has gone to bed willing and excited for another night and another reward star. I will revise review once he completes the 5 weeks. The arm band is comfy, soft and I only fasten it very loosely over his pajamas since he said he wont remove it. We havent used the tiestraps, but they would be useful for kids that are removing the band. So far worth the money for us to break a habit he was born with.
