Dynamic Human Anatomy: An Artist's Guide to Structure, Gesture, and the Figure in Motion

The publishers did themselves no favors by not providing more helpful sample pages to see before purchase. What they show is stiff you see in almost every art book printed. It was the illustrations of those dynamic poses we really needed to see to get the flavor. So I bought the book based on the great reviews. That more often than not is a good bet. In this case, it was a great bet! I'd have liked more dynamic poses and some 360s of them, but the book gives you a thorough instruction of the anatomy and how it works in more dynamic positions that it makes extrapolating much easier. GREAT BOOK!

This is a must have for any serious artist. Useful for both animators, painters, and anyone else struggling to master the human forms which are in proportion to themselves. Contains over 100 unique illustrations and full color how to draw unusual poses. Let it grace your coffee table as an additional serious show piece to your budding art collection.

I have a huge artist library. It includes maybe 15-20 books on anatomy. Some are good, some do so and there are some very inspiring. This one has style and is very artistic.

I thought the last thing I need is one more anatomy book (I have shelves full of them). Wrong! This book is superb -- beautifully designed, well organized, but, above all, immensely useful. Kudos to Roberto Osti.

Amazing and thorough anatomy book for artists, particularly sculptors. Wonderful references and many detailed views of poses and every part of the body.

Wow, okay, to be honest, I'm not good enough an artist yet to judge how masterful this book truly is. But what I can say is that I have never ever seen a book in my life where more work has been put in than in this one. Roberto Osti worked his, respectfully, gluteus maximus off on this and it shows. There is so much content! The book contains inspiring analysis of the old masters, thorough diagrams and beautiful illustrations. This is truly a masterpiece and together with his previous book, "Basic Human Anatomy", I'm left feeling like I have already all the material I will ever need. University classes should be based on this book and I would bet some money on Roberto's work soon replacing "Figure Drawing: Design and Invention by Michael Hampton" on the top of the Amazon figure drawing book charts. All this being said, I think for an absolute beginner like me, it will take some time until I can fully benefit from this book. But until then, it will keep inspiring me to work on my skills and trying to understand the human form in it's entirety. I've included some pictures because it is so damn hard to find a preview of this book anywhere and I almost didn't buy it because of that, which would have been a huge shame.

Absolutely beautiful book with amazing illustrations it is hefty but it needs the size of the book to really bring out the colour in the detail that they’ve managed to capture within.
