Ah TP-Link quality
I've had numerous cheap TP-Link things die after a short time, but this one might be a record. I plugged in both units, they worked. I got a link. Speed was OK. I then realised that I hadn't set up the pairing and encryption, so I unplugged the second unit, and plugged it back in near the first, as suggested, ready to do the pairing. The second unit never worked again. Power still passed through, but it never actually booted, whether I had the first plugged in or not. It had been in use a little under five minutes- which is impressive. At least their cheap PoE splitters mostly died after a week or two and the small network switches sometimes last actual months! So, essentially, it seemed pretty good for the few minutes when it still worked- compact, neat, easy to set up. Then it carked it, joined the choir invisibule etc.. Ideally I should learn from this experience, letting it remind me of the transitory nature of existence and the frequently poor reliability of TP-Link products. A shame, I went into this with optimism, telling myself that my attitude to TP-Link products was an unfair generalisation. "I guess the joke's on me," she said.

Does not last long
Easy to set up and fine when it was working. A few weeks after the warranty period had ended it died on me. The sign of death of the product is when the LED lights no longer light. Do not expect anything from TP-Link customer service. My other electronic products (router, range extenders, etc) are 10 years old and all are working fine. There is a reason why the equivalent in Netgear is more expensive. TP-Link is just a tat so do not expect much in terms of longevity. There goes another poor quality product into the landfill.

Very slow,WI-FI us quicker
Set up is easy, hooked up to PS5 through ethernet upstairs, expected a drop in speed but not what I got, barely got 60 mb , terrible , this is on gigabit broadband, didn't carry through the home lines as advertised , did Wi-Fi speedtest and this was faster. And don't blame PS5, I get over 900 mb downstairs connected to modem

Genuine review
I just had my entire house rewired, new consumer unit, all rooms are on different circuit, if you have a new build house you will have the same. My deco wireless hub in my house is patchy so i purchased these as a possible solution. Positives easy to set up, plug in, press the button, plug the other one in upstairs or wherever press the button 1 - 2 mins later you have an Ethernet connection, plug laptop in. Great for where you don’t have wireless. Negatives they are big if you care about visual appearance, size of a timer switch. You will not get 1gig connection which they are sold as. I tried loads of different sockets and the best I got was 184Mbps throughput. Ok but my router I wanted to plug it into that wall socket resulted in only getting 58Mbps. One of the sockets obviously has to plug into either a router or network switch to work, this left me with having to plug it into a wireless access point network port and a socket in my kitchen to get the best connection 184Mbps which I suspect about as good as you can get, no where near 1Gbps they are sold as. Also if ones not plugged directly into your router and wall socket, you are just bridging your wireless network, which eradicates the whole point really. Tempted to send back as at £50 they are far too expensive, £35 would be a legitimate price, as they are only really fit as a back up to good wireless.

Easy to install, but very poor performance
These devices do not operate at the marketed speed, do not buy this product while making that assumption! They are marketed at the Powerline rate being capable of up to 1000Mbps, but that is only in a laboratory scenario and not real world where you are more likely to only achieve a few 100Mbps, maybe around 50% (500Mbps) between your devices. What's more, is that the throughput is much reduced again, to around only fraction of what they should be capable of according to their marketing. I will edit this if they can improve my transfer speed of anything above 100Mbps consistently, else I highly recommend avoiding this product.

Does NOT provide anywhere close to a gigabit as stated
I'd like to start off this review by saying that YES, I am currently on BT's Full Fibre 900mbps Upload and 110mbps upload package. Connecting my PC directly to my router see's me receiving speeds of 998-1020mbps download. So I have a capable connection to use this device starting off. Secondly I'd like to state that I am using CAT 7 cables for the connections so I know I am not limited by my ethernet's transfer rate etc. If anything it's overkill with CAT 7 cables. I will say that these devices are VERY easy to set up. You simply plug one into your socket and connect it via ethernet to your router and then press "pair" and quickly plug the other adapter in wherever you want to connection and once again press "pair" et voila! It's done. Easy peasy. However the statement that it can support a gigabit connection is very misleading. Apparently TP-Link say that the conditions need to be perfect to achieve ANYWHERE close to that. Such as: - Consistently stable connection of over 1000mbps (Which I have) - Modern electrical wiring inside of your house (MOST houses in the UK are relatively old, however I live in a newbuild so I knew I ticked this box as my electrical wiring is only 5 years old.) -The electric sockets not to be too far away from each other, preferably on the same floor (What's the point of using them then, just run an RJ45 cable across the room. Though I will say I live in a 2 story house so the plugs were directly above one another, around 10 feet in height apart). - Few electrical appliances plugged in to your homes electrical grid (So what? You expect me to unplug my fridge, washing machine, all TV's, games consoles etc. from my walls while using this? Defeats the purpose or is silly to ask of someone). So what speeds was I getting? Well... with ticking most of the "perfect ideal scenarios" I was getting 220mbps download and my upload was still 110mbps (though that's to be expected) I tried having them plugged into different plug sockets. No difference. I wouldn't recommend these. Their ideal scenarios expectations are far too out there for any realistic application in a modern day world.

Slower than Wireless N even when running well DO NOT BUY
If you expect equivalent to Gigabit network speeds DO NOT BUY. These powerline adapters proved to be slower than Wireless N when uploading to my NAS server on my local network. The same PC and NAS server on Gigabit ethernet give me around 80MB/s the same as hard disk to hard disk speeds. The Powerline gets me about 4MB/s which is pathetic. According to the TP-Link TPplc windows app the link speed I get is a reasonable approx 750Mbps so 75% of the potential 1000Mbps which is good for a powerline and acceptable. But this does not translate into equivalent performance I would have thought I'd get about 75% of 80MB/s ie 60MB/s or even half that would have been good. But 4MB/s is a joke.

Litlle increase
For me with Sky broadband, this brought a very small increase on download and 0 difference in upload. It was entirely not worth in my opinion. I read some reviews and paired these up with Cat 6 cables instead of the included cables and still no difference. I would stay away from this product because although on speed tests it bring a slight change when it came to actually downloading/ installing I saw no difference to my speeds with just my small Wi-Fi adapter
