Worth the price
UPDATE: Sadly, I lost my anchor. It became stuck and was unretrievable. We had to cut the line. Worked great while we had it. Use with caution in areas with rocky bottoms, underground cables, etc. :(--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I use this on my 26 foot pontoon boat (14 pounder). I tried the clam shell anchors with double the weight of this thing with poor results. It works by turning on its side and digging in. When it's time to pull anchor, the sliding ring slides down to the base thus freeing the prongs that have dug into to underwater surface.Just remember you need about a 5 to 1 ratio on this anchor. For every foot of depth, you need to let out 5 feet of rope. So 10 feet of water would be about 50 foot of rope. Why? So that the rope is pulling the anchor more parallel to the bottom than perpendicular. Too little rope means the prongs won't have a chance to dig into the muddy bottom.

great rock anchor
This is a great anchor for a rocky river bottom. It does hold WELL. You do have to drive the boat up to it to get into position to remove it. It held out 20 ft pontoon in the wind with the bimini top up, with no problems. No drifting.

Great combo anchor
Great combo anchor. used in mud, sand, and rocks with my 23 ft boat. Only complaint is that the plastic coating is tearing off the ends of the tines. I'll eventually shave the pieces off and re-plasti-coat them. doesn't effect the functionality of the thing.

You must buy this anchor.
Even if you don't have a boat, you should get one of these, they are just that good. I have a Tracker ProGuide V16 and was using the river anchor suggested by the dealer. I fish in Northeast Minnesota and while most of the bottom is rocky around here, there is some soft bottom too. Whenever the wind came up to about 5mph+, my river anchor would just scape a nice pattern in the bottom as I moved around. Even if I let out a generous rope, the old anchor just would not bite. I tried a second one off of the stern, but that just drew another, new pattern on the bottom of the lake to match the bow anchor. It was like fishing over a giant etch-a-sketch.I was in my local marine store and the old man of the sea there advised the Richter. The down side? It costs substantially more than the alternatives. Also, you do not see many for sale in this area so the belief is, gee they must not work or they would sell them. Anyway, I ordered mine and my life has changed. Now, I look forward to the walleye chop on the surface of the lake and confidently drop my 18 lb Richter and take some primordial delight as it aggressively into the bottom, whatever it may be. Only once was I too well anchored and needed to use the slip ring design to back over the anchor point whereupon it worked as promised and released. At this price we do not want to cut loose an anchor when it won't release, but that has not occurred. The coating on the anchor is tough and has not worn as yet. Also, the spread on the web of the "tines" (?) seemed too large for me to slip into my Deckhand 25 anchor retriever, but such has not been the case. It stows neatly as did the original river anchor and does not bang on the boat in transit as I feared it might. So, I love this anchor, recommend it highly and want you to buy one even if you do not yet own a boat. It is that good.

Best anchor around
What a great anchor. We have a 24' pontoon boat with a homemade enclosed cabin, so it can be used in the colder weather. The anchor holds the boat really well and even on a windy day. It's easy to retrieve and small in size to stow. We boat on the lakes in the Adirondacks and it works well in the various bottoms we've encountered so far. We did a lot of research on-line and by visiting the various mariners in the area and we made the right choice for our needs.

BUY IT! you'll like it!
I have been boating for 20 years and tried all types of anchors. These are the best anchors I have ever used or seen! well worth the money! The rubber coating is a extra plus, doesn't scratch your boat. This anchor works exactly how they describe.I bought two myself, one for the bow and one for the stern.

Stop dragging your anchor across the party cove!
Stop dragging your anchor across the party cove! We kick this beast of the front of our 25' pontoon and party all day. Our cove has steep sides and collects a lot of debris. We've hooked boulders, trees and god only knows what, we just pull over the anchor and it releases with a few sharp tugs. Don't waste $ on cheap crap that's you're only going to leave on the bottom of the lake. This thing is awesome.

Great holding power.
Holds in a lot of adverse conditions, great for rocky bottom rivers, especially with currents and windy conditions. Holds my 23ft bowrider in river once you set it. Only issue is rubber coating wears off easily...
