We currently only sell this kind of product and there is no other longer sections of the tubing that is used to empty the tank.

does the bag need to be under water for this thing to work

Yes. As shown in the pictures, the bag needs to be underwater. I use this device to clean the gravel while I do a water change - so I don’t use the bag. Instead, I connect a hose in its place. Works well.
