You will not be disappointed! I am relatively new to woodworking and have been curious about working with exotics. However, I didn’t want to spend a ton on a couple boards of one or two types. Enter this box of cutoffs from Evergreen Forest Products Inc. I have received a couple boxes from them and all I can say is WOW! As you can see in the pictures, all pieces are exotics, each more beautiful than the next. My boxes have included Darina, Greenheart, Ipe, Mora, Purpleheart, Wallaba, Wamara, as well as Teak and Snakewood (although they said these two types are not usually put in boxes - so I got lucky!). At least one piece of each type is clearly labeled, which was something other companies I purchased a box from did not do. 95% of the pieces were square, surfaced, and defect free. I specifically requested larger pieces and they certainly were. They were larger than I expected actually. Sizes ranged from 5 3/8 in. x 5 1/8 in. to 12 in. x 5.5 in. Thickness was generally an inch. That being said, don’t expect your box to be the same as the types and sizes will vary week to week. So be sure to contact the seller directly to see what might be included in your box the week of your purchase! Evergreen Forest Products Inc. was great to work with. They generally responded to my messages within 24 hrs, were very flexible, and worked with me to make sure my box was as close to what I wanted as possible. IF YOU DO NOT CONTACT THE SELLER BEFORE PURCHASING, DO NOT EXPECT YOUR EXPERIENCE TO BE THE SAME. But notice that multiple companies sell this product. So simply adding this to your cart will mean you are purchasing from the default company. I have no way to confirm this, but the default company may vary by your location and when you purchase. Each seller has access to different types of wood. I have purchased a box from Evergreen Forest Products Inc. and WoodChuck’s Wood. The box I received from the former included 100% exotics, mainly from South America, while the latter included 100% US domestics like Ash, Cedar, Oak, and Walnut. I know WoodChuck’s Wood can also have Cherry, Maple, and Elm. So make sure you contact each seller individually to see what they have in stock BEFORE PURCHASING. There are quite a few negative reviews here and I have a hunch it is because the person did not talk with the seller before purchasing. You can’t really be mad about what you received if you left it up to chance...

I had expectations of a bit of exotic wood. We know the pictures usually are better than what shows up but I got a couple small pieces of walnut and some very bland light hardwoods . I was hoping for a colorful array but did not get anything like that.

I got this box because I thought I was going to get more of what was pictured. I got one piece of what looks to be spatted maple, a couple pieces of walnut, but mostly what looks to be regular pine or pallet wood. I was hoping for some really pretty woods that you see in the picture as I am making custom handle grips as a gift. I understand that it is a mixed box of scrap pieces, but if you are going to only have pictures that show purple heart wood and other colored wood, then at least make sure the buyer gets a couple pieces of what is advertised. Not worth the cost.

Very excited. Going to rip them and make cheese boards for Christmas. I realllllly wanted some greenheart. I love purple and red heart. Guess what was in the box? Greenheart! The box was torn and I might have lost a board. Another could have easily fix in the box. Still pleased. Make sure the vendor is Evergreen Forest!

I use the wood in the making of small clocks.

Walnut maybe some oak or maple. Looks like poplar and ash mostly. Will not buy again.Checking for return options.

I was impressed with the different woods I was sent and the amount. i want to use them for crafts, wood carving practice, and especially doll house fronts. They were perfect for what I wanted. Thank you.

I wasn’t sure about this purchase as the reviews were mixed. I’m happy with it. The box is full and the pieces are quite nice. There’s a couple of pieces that have knots and I think there’s a beauty to that and I can make something of it. That said, I wouldn’t want a box full of “knoty” pieces, but this was a very good box!
