A good, sturdy scratcher
My three cats all use it, upon occasion. It doesn't "shed" very much, which makes me happy. Pretty sturdy. Unlike the snooty Siamese in the picture, my cats tend to lie across it. MUCH better than the corrogated cardboard on the diagonal incline, which makes a CARPET of shredded cardboard sheds!

Reduces furniture wear and tear
My cat has been wearing the corners out of our couch for years now. We put this sturdy scratcher besides one of the corners and he now works away at it instead! He likes napping on the scratcher too. May be able to finally get new furniture soon.
