Bad Basenji! Hardcover – March 22, 2013

I absolutely love this book! After our family's basenji tragically died, we were all devastated. I found this book a few years later and gave a copy to everyone in the family. I can't speak for everyone else, but I know for me, it's always a bittersweet read, because it reminds me so much of my lost friend.I am SO grateful to the author for writing this book, which captures perfectly what life with a basenji is like. Every time I read this book, usually to my 4th grade students once each year, I laugh and I cry, because I will always miss our basenji, and this book is a perfect snapshot into the chaos, humor, stress, and love that our dog brought into our home.

This is a funny light hearted look at living with a Basenji dog. Mr. Clark is an excellent artist and provides gorgeous renditions of the already gorgeous Basenji breed. Ms. Putnam creates a world of fun and mischievousness that is the Basenji's own. If you want your toilet paper to stay on the roll, why do you leave the bathroom door open and tempt the Basenji? This book had our whole family laughing so hard that we called up the local Basenji club to ask if our girls could meet some real Basenjis. Our oldest wanted to take a gift of a roll of toilet paper! Witty and captivating, beautifully illustrated and just plain fun to enjoy again and again. Delivered right on time and in perfect shape. Makes a great gift, I have given many copies now and to our local libraries as well.

My son and wife obtained two Basenjis when they were first married. The male passed away tragically a few years ago. The female is 11 years old and is showing her age. The three children (8,6, and 3) learned how to handle dogs as a result. They now have a young beagle as well. The 8 year old is showing the dog as a junior handler. Both are a winning pair. I personally think her experience with the Basenji breedhelped her develop her confidence. Great picture book. The part about snatching underwear is particularly true.

I don't have any small children. I bought this book because I live with a Basenji (rescue via Basenji Rescue and Transport aka BRAT). It was utterly charming.I enjoyed the very realistic "bad Basenji" behaviors as well as the good things the dog did. The artwork is precious too. Completely captured the mischevious nature of this breed.I would advise anyone wanting a Basenji to understand that this book is not fiction. Obviously, the author has lived with one of these half monkey half dog all scamp dogs.I think any child would love this book even without knowing the breed.

My book came well packaged and in mint condition. As a previous owner of two basenjis, I cannot resist a heartwarming book on basenjis. This book was every basenji owner's life experiences with this cherished breed. Funny, clever, and complete with selective compliance behavior. I loved this book and the memories it brought back. Thank you.

Super cute book. We have only ever had Basenjis, so this book is a family favorite now.

Illustrations are beautiful! In my opinion, there is very little text. It will be interesting for children under 8 years old, who have basenji or who just love animals very much.

I got this as a present for my parents with a basenji. They absolutely loved it. Anybody who has a basenji will absolutely appreciate this book. Heck if you are thinking about getting a basenji its a great book to check out. Basenji's are rewarding amazing dogs... that love to get into trouble. As this book will highlight! But its fantastic.
