Can this item substitute for the PUR # 42-649-13 water filter ? Thank you.

I had a poor experience with this brand. The charcoal literally poured out when I added water following the instructions. I did try the water cause honestly I was just hoping they would still work. Needless to say, the water smelled and tasted exactly like the tap water. So, try at your own risk. Maybe I received a bad batch.

Do these filter out flouride?

The box says it filters out lead, chlorine and other chemicals but does not mention flouride. I am not under the impression that it filters out flouride.

Which contaminates exactly are filtered out? T manufacturer isn’t answering my question at all.

I had the same experience. They don’t answer because the answer is: none. This is a terrible product—all it does is filter out the chlorine. We switched back to the authentic PUR filters.
