Easy to read and accurate

I was using a digital thermometer to monitor fry oil temperature and I noticed the temperature was lower than expected and the oil was turning black and bubbling. Electronic failure, probably minutes away from catastrophic fire. This probe is based on physics. Bi-metallic thermometers work on the principle of different metals expand with differently. There is nothing to fail. I'll keep my digital for bread and meat. :O

Work well when using a deep pan to deep fry. Works well with a large cut of protein. Appears to be very accurate.

It’s crazy how many reviews are dumping on the “useless clip” and giving this product a negative review because of it. Sure, out of the box it might not work for your exact pot/fryer. But guys, you can easily reshape the pliable metal on this clip to your exact specifications with a set of pliers. It took me about 2 minutes to make adjustment so the thermometer sat the way I needed it to, and I’m just mildly handy. The actual thermometer seems to work just fine, and is long enough for some deep frying bubbly bliss. In summary.. buy this thing as long as you are willing to spend 2 minutes exerting minimal effort to bend/reshape the clip to work for your situation.

This is a nicely made thermometer with a long probe. Unfortunately, I bought it when it was more expensive at $10.79, but it's another 11% off or so today at $9.59 for one or $13.59 for two. It's so well made that I should have gotten the two pack. The red dial is nice if it's a feature you want. There are other deep fry thermometers that area slightly cheaper, especially comparing the full price, but it looks like this one has the most reviews.

I was out of jelly. So I says to myself, "Self. Your candy thermometer is broke. You should get you a new one." So I hop on here, buy it, good price, blag blah blah, and I DEFINITELY was not paying attention because it was way too long for my sauce pan! It's fine but I'm glad it was jelly and not hard tack candy or I'd have been in trouble!

Did a little research before the purchase and this unit came up as one of good quality and a recommended purchase. Like many of the other commenters, I found the clip to be a little less than desirable. The pan I was using had a slight lip at the top and I could not find any way to keep this thermometer attached to it. Second of all, the vegetable oil I was heating was supposed to be heated to 375. After some time, I began to question the temperature, as the oil seemed very hot, but this thermometer was reading just slightly above 300. I quickly grabbed another Digital meat thermometer I have and it read the oil temperature at over 400. Really kind of disappointed with this products overall performance.

I like its accuracy and the length as I do my deep frying in a very deep stock pot.

Great product reacts quickly to heat

Have used it 3 times so far to fry up some Zucchini flowers and it worked beautifully everytime. Will recommend to family and friends.

Good for use as advertised. The scales are a bit difficult to read also it reads about 5degree C too high. not a big drawback but nevertheless not 5 stars.
