In order to connect the macbook , do we just used the usbc cable the monitor came with or i need to buy a usbc digital av multiport adapter ?

You can use a USB-C cable and plug it in directly to a MacBook Pro. (I have only tested the 16" MacBook Pro). However, do note that many of the menu features such as calibration only work when connected via HDMI.

Is the lg 27qn880-b vesa compliant? just in case i want to mount this in the future to the wall / use a dual monitor arm.

How can I clamp the monitor safely if my table is .5 inch thick?

The c-clamp for the LG 27'' QHD Ergo IPS Monitor with USB Type-C™, Model # 27QN880-B is designed for use with tables with a thickness of less than 1.5" (40 mm) up to 3.5"(90 mm) and the monitor should only be installed on a table that has a flat protrusion located between 0.5" (15 mm) to 3.5" (90mm) from the edge of the table. The owner's manual for the monitor has explicit instructions and illustrated diagrams showing how to install the ergo stand on an appropriately sized desk...^IFV
