It looks okay for home décor but the hinge is flimsy making the cover sit at an angle... It's tolerable at a distance but my OCD kicks in each time I'm close to my thermostat. The other problem is having the cover closed offsets the temperature in my house and after spending hours of tweaking the temperature offset on my Honeywell Smart Thermostat, I finally got it working for the winter... not looking forward to tweaking it again in the summer. So 3 stars because it looks pretty good, serves its purpose and doesn't require a key to open.

Flawed venting design. Loose and saging hinge. Quality formed plastic and aluminum backing plate. Honeywell 8000/9000 series thermostats that this fits, register their temperature by computing the average between the ambient and thermostat surface temperatures. By not including sufficient vent holes/slots for proper air circulation, the thermostat body heats up and consistantly has displayed an inside temperature 3° higher than the set temperature. This causes the set temperature to lag 3° cooler than desired. If the enclosure is kept open, heated temperature is correctly maintained. This defeats the purpose of the enclosure. Additional air circulation vents are needed on top and probably sides.
