We have 6 kids who all love fidget toys. I have many musical instruments (guitars, handpan, cajon, ocarina and more) but I wanted something that sounded good no matter what you did. This was perfect! I did not want something super loud or big. Something I could put in a backpack on trips or have out even as a decoration. No matter what you played it sounded beautiful! My 7 year old all the way up to me fell in love with it instantly! Since they are homeschooled and get stressed out at times they tend to fidget and use toys to take a short break. I was irritated by the spinning, zipping and clicking sounds from all those toys LOL. Now they take turns while learning and today it felt like being homeschooled at the spa 😂 Like I said no matter what you hit it all sounded good together. My 7yr old even rote a song using the numbers on the front using math... Go figure! I'm tempted to buy another one just for me. Like I said it is not very loud but is not super quiet either. You could still hear it over them talking. It's easy to hold even for a child and yes my husband with his big hands too! It's beautiful and I am thinking to put it on a plate stand on the side table which will be a great conversation starter for when company comes (after covid of course). Seriously though the best part is you don't need to know how to play anything to use it. Just tap away at any of the keys or combination of the keys and enjoy the music you make! It does come with a book btw to teach you a simple song and you can look up other music to play online as it uses a standard C scale. I have not tried the tuning app yet though as it came in tune. I am so glad my mom suggested this, THANKS MOM!!!

Got this for my kids but we ended up using it as well. My 11 year old likes that it is fun. He says "It can be hard to learn the songs but once you learn them, it's easy to play." But it didn't take him long to learn several songs and play the keys by memory. The set up came with a book that had certain apps they recommended for tuning your instrument which was cool. As a parent with kids learning new instruments, this is definitely a good one to have because the sound the keys in practice mode isn't painful to the ears and when they actually learn songs, it's quite enjoyable. My husband and I learned some songs too. The sound can be very soothing. We found kalimba tutorials on YouTube & even some keyboard tutorials were also useful. We got this as a Christmas gift for the kids. We initially wanted to get them a keyboard but they were out of our price range. I'm very happy with this purchase

Listen I don't have any musical talent, but I love this. The sounds are so pretty and relaxing. Tbh I'm so used to holding my phone in a similar position that this is the one instrument that seems immediately familiar lol. I really appreciate the labeling of the chords as a beginner too. It comes with a great little storage box, thumb summer protector and tuning equipment. It's so cute. I love it.

THE START - This is a fun little, different instrument THE GOOD - The sound is soothing! - Really not hard to learn how to play, especially if there is any background in music theory - Comes with a little book to jump start on some songs and music theory behind the instrument THE BAD - The size was a little bigger than expecting, so be sure to look at the dimensions carefully - One of the notes was out of tune when I received it, so I had to adjust it quick. Not terribly hard, just had to push the bar in a little bit. - The higher notes really don't resonate well...they sort of just "click" and dull out quickly. So expect to stick to the middle, lower, more tonal notes THE END - With my understanding of music, it is a fun toy to add to the collection. Don't expect the greatest thing in the world,. but don't expect the worst!

To be honest there are no words come to mind to express how beautiful the sound is on my 21 key kalimba and I haven't even tunes it. Only 1 key is really out of sorts but a tunning I shall go. Who would have guessed you could get a real instrument for so very little. It did take some extra time getting here but worth the wait. Oh an it doesn't sound tinny but has a a rich sound. Can't speak for any others out there but this is the truth for me.

I am impressed with the quality of all of the items received in this package. The Kalimba has marked keys with both letters and numbers which comes in handy as Kalimba music is presented in many different forms. The instruction manual is a little lacking in how to clean the Kalimba and does not explain what the red and green stickers are for. However, I am very happy with the instrument, all of the accessories, the hard-shelled case and the soft case, and the general introduction to the music. You get a lot for your money here.

I purchased this for my sister for her birthday, and she loves it. That's good enough for me :-D It has good sound and is able to be tuned, and as she learns how to play it, I'm not going insane listening to it. It is a great gift, or for anyone who has their heart set on playing a good Kalimba. Edit: I finally got one for me, and I really did my research of tone, quality, holding up, ease of learning. I LOVE THIS KALIMBA!!! It has a gorgeous tone. I tuned the notes by ear using the little hammer thingie (didn't even read the instructions) and then matched it to my sister's. Wow! HAPPY CUSTOMER!

My first kalimba. It came perfectly packed, the box seemed like it really can protect the kalimba inside, with the box given I can easily carry my kalimba to anywhere I want. I have been playing it for about a week now, waiting for my nails to grow so I get the best experience. My nails are still short, but anyways. It's lightweight, notes are engraved, the tines at the ends sounds a bit stiff but not dead. I heard the wood kalimba often has dead tines at the end so I was worried, but mine don't have this problem yeah! Before buying this kalimba, I was having a hard time deciding if I should get a kalimba that has a connection to a small audio amplifier or not. Because I know the kalimba is a small instrument and it sounds quiet, but I still got this one because it was cheaper and has other things that I want. And surprisingly enough, this gave a pretty loud sound itself already, maybe because I brought the wood instead of acrylic and it has the hole, which are meant to sound louder but I don't know how much louder. Overall, I'm happy with this, probably the best deal I got on amazon.
