this is a perfect knife for "side shucking " Chesapeake's have fragile shells and usually 10 in a 100 cant be shucked from the hinge because it is to fragile. this is where this knife comes in .it is thin and flexible and sharp enough to easily enter the bill with minimum damage. This knife is not designed for Normal (Hinge) shucking. (it will probably break very quickly if used at the hinge). Anyone who shucks alot of oysters definitely needs one of these.

Disappointing, given the $15 price.The oyster knife was delivered, with rust on the tip, and edge of the blade, questionable whether it is stainless steel, irrespective ‘Stainless’ is stamped, on the blade.The blade does not have a mirror finish. It appears to be a satin finish, but I am unable to confirm the exact finish type.Cheaper oyster knives, at less than half the price, have a mirror finish, with absolutely no rust on them.Caveat emptor.

Works great on Chesapeake Oyster Shells.
