Po'pay: Leader of the First American Revolution

Awesome book should be required reading in public schools
I loved this book about a true American hero told by his own relatives. The religious oppression was here for natives long before Europeans stepped foot on this continent. The Pueblo people are a strong, resilient, religious people whom were fed up with the Spanish treatment of their sacred rituals and sites in their homelands. So they came up with a plan of action!

Po'pay: Leader of the First American Revolution
I am going to go to Washington D.C. and demand that this book be required reading for every citizen in the U.S.The first revolution in this country against an invading European power was not the one we hear and read about happening on the East Coast. The first revolution occurred in 1680 when the Pueblo natives forced the Spanish to retreat out of Nuevo Mexico. It is an amazing story of bows and arrows on one side and guns and horses on the other.

Interesting, but not what I needed.
I bought this as a research book for my next novel about the introduction of the horse to Native Americans. I wanted to know more about the Pueblo Revolt in New Mexico since that was where the Pueblos, Apaches, and Navahos acquired many of their horses. The book was a series of essays that covered the reasons why the revolt took place, but very little about the details of the conflict. This was not much help to me. I needed details on the revolt itself.Still a good read. One thumb up.

LEADER OF THE PACK
this book gave me great insight on how the PUEBLOS were treated by the COQUISTADORS. it was not pretty. they were thought of no more then cattle. hated for their RELIGIOUS THOUGHTS. the native AMERICANS have no DEVIL in these minds, no not until these strangers came. then they knew what evil IS. great book about some WONDERFUL PEOPLE.
