Wow--what a fun ride! I liked Goggins in Fallout, and heard that he was in this series, so on that basis, I got this boxed set. Great cast, and the dialogue is amazing. The writers must have had a great time putting this all together. I bing-watched the series over two weeks and thoroughly loved it. Lots of twists and turns. How did I miss the show when it first ran on TV? And the company that put this set together did a great job of packaging.

I watched it 3 times online before I bought the entire series. The best series I have seen. The characters mesh perfectly and many actors come and go.

Great T.V series

Excellent series. Everyone knows ‘Justified’ and there are plenty of reviews, so what I have to say is about packaging and discs, all of which is very good. Nineteen discs (including the final disc of extras) come stacked like 45s on a turntable, nice and neat. No jumbled or slipping discs in cheap plastic DVD cases that we all know and do not love. The box that houses ‘Justified’ is the size of a small book. Very, very nicely done, since there’s none of the oddly misaligned discs that are so difficult to get out, and those little plastic pieces in the wheel pins holding the discs (I say that as loosely as the packages I refer to) break off so the entire set of discs can’t be kept in its cheaply done packaging. Scratch city with a screaming headache. No; no, this is literally like a book, and the discs are the chapters and pages. There’s a series guide on a small piece of paper with the titles. Each disc has extras at the end - nice. The summation of extras with the beginning and end along with Harlan County are on the last disc. This is separate from the extras at the ends of each of the discs. There is no booklet, my sole disappointment, but I was aware of that so it doesn’t bother me. That would’ve been a really nice addition to have since ‘Justified’ is such an iconic series, but nothing is perfect. Nothing like this series has ever been done, and I doubt any such thing will be coming along anytime in the future. It’s a finely written collection, well acted by a perfectly cast group of actors, guests and extras. Regarding the playability: I ran into nothing but perfection. I have a large screen Roku Hisense TV. I don’t have an expensive DVD player, just a generic, low priced Panasonic player with an ‘instruction manual’ of which I basically could not make heads or tails of, so I mostly winged it and figured things out on my own. It works perfectly. The ‘Justified’ discs are clean as a whistle without flaws in any of them. I couldn’t afford to purchase this series directly from the licensed holder, and the set from Prime was the cost of seasons five and six individually. I compared $235-$250 with the DVD set price in a trice. Nothing awkward there, just common sense. So, I ordered it, received it two days later on a Saturday, started watching immediately and finished by Thursday night, start to finish, straight through. Best way to see it, imo. Of course I don’t have anything in the way that would keep me from doing it that way. Easy. I just started the entire series over today, Friday morning, because it’s so nice to watch this start to finish with no interruptions. If you like the series and want to own it: buy it. If you missed it and refuse to pay for one channel or package or another channel you don’t really want to have to pay for each month: buy this DVD set. If you don’t want to keep it, sell it. You’ll make your money back easily. (I’m not selling mine.) The ‘book’ of DVDs looks nice on my TV console. (A note of playability issues from some reviews: if you experience no issues with your tried and true discs and subsequent new purchases, then buying this set - new from Prime, not used - you’ll experience no issues with these discs. I love this series and was delighted to purchase it on Blu-Ray. The series came in pristine condition and on time.

I have just received this product from Amazon Australia and was interested to check out the packaging due to the comments from previous customers. I see some of you received the set with the disks in a single stack as was my set of The Shield DVDs. So imagine my surprise to see all disks in this set to be incorporated into each single page of the above book. The same type of packaging I got with the GRIMM set. Totally worth ever penny. Although we don't get the separate photo book! I'll overlook that for the sake of disk protection. I would be interested to know if you got the above book and can the pages be separated and the disks inserted?

The region for dvd is not mentioned on Amazon. I bought this in good faith from Amazon.nl, thinking I would be able to watch this in Belgium. Turns out season one poses no problems but season 2 has a different region code and my dvd player can't play it....

I struggle to think of one episode that was less than stellar. While it was clearly made on less than a trillion-dollar budget, the monumentally fine script writing, coupled with brilliant acting from all involved, particularly Walton Goggins and Australian Damon Herriman, makes this an exceptional series that you can watch over and over again without getting tired of it. Margo Martindale is also stunning, and her performance opened up a world of possibilities on both the big and small screen for older women actors. Her performance is really something. But really, all the actors are great here. This series is the ultimate proof of the old adage, "If it's not on the page, it's not on the stage." And this southern gothic series is SOOO on the stage!
