It is very high on chair but better than the one on it, can also go low.

This is a good cylinder and I love the height it adds. I viewed the installation instructions and watched some videos, but I did not have an easy time installing it because my chair was old, grimey and dusty. (The label on bottom said 2003) Tips if your chair is old like mine. 1. To get the existing cylinder out of the chair, you may need to whack it HARD. I used a 5lb sledge and a block of 2x4. Even then, it took SEVERAL hard whacks, putting all sorts of dents in the wood block. 2. Use an adjustable pipe wrench to unscrew the cylinder. The teeth on mine were leaving marks on old cylinder and it wouldn't budge. I eventually applied WD-40 at the top and that loosened it up enough to come off. There was a bunch of rust inside. 3. Once you install the new cylinder, you will have to pop off the plastic cover under the chair and adjust the set screw so it doesn't sag. After I did this, it worked perfectly.

Take a look at this product, it is well worth the purchase. For a taller chair seat, this does the job. It was a better and more sturdy lift-tube than my old one. It put my feet, knees and hips in a more neutral position for better comfort. Less cramped = more Comfort. A word though: it is an easy install once the old one is removed. Removing the old lift-tube can be tough.

If you want to take a regular desk-height chair and turn it into a counter-height chair then its perfect but it is too tall for a desk-height chair. I was hoping that I could use it all the way down for sitting at my desk, then raise it up when I raised my desk, but it is too tall when all the way down. My feet don't touch the floor. I am 5' 11" so I am not used to my feet not touching the floor when I am seated. Removing the old one was a chore. I put some anti-seize into the base and mechanism when I installed the new one so that the next time it won't be so hard. I expect that the cylinders are the most likely thing to break on a modern office chair so I figure I'll replace the cylinder every few years. I ordered another one that is a little smaller and think I will return this one when it arrives tomorrow. I might use it on a padded shop stool that I have which would be better if it had a longer stroke cylinder but we'll see.

I'm very pleased with the quality and functionality of this unit. I was lucky enough to snag an adjustable sit-stand desk early in the pandemic from a local seller, but none of the chairs in my apartment were tall enough to use with it, even at the lowest setting for the desk and the highest setting for the chair. This drop-in replacement immediately raised the minimum height of my chair, and the fully-extended height is now almost comically tall -- see the attached video. It took me about two minutes to remove the old cylinder from my desk chair and then this one just pushes right into place. If you have a pipe wrench, large set of slip-joint pliers, or similar around the house, they will be a big help getting your old cylinder out of a chair, especially if you've have it for a while. I'm really glad I went this route rather than buying large-diameter wheels which - while nice - would have made a smaller impact on the overall height and adjustability of the chair. I very much recommend this item.

I purchased it as a replacement to use in my 5-yr old Amazon Basics chair, but I could not get the old cylinder out, no matter how hard I tried and how many how-to videos I watched. I ordered a new chair, and used this when I assembled it. It works great. If you are tall, this makes the chair much more comfortable and usable. I am 6'2. Wish I knew these were available when I ordered my first chair 5 years ago.

This says it will fit in most chairs. Also says it's 2 inchs. Doesn't fit. Won't come down to where you can actually sit in the chair without your feet leaving the floor. Absolutely ridiculous that I have to return this and now have no chair to use. Furious..

Just installed on a 2005 Herman Miller Aeron Size C. The extra height makes all the difference. I will never understand why HM delivers chairs with cylinder strokes that are too short / max seat height that is too low.

Installed this in a Herman-Miller Aeron that I've had for years. As a 6'4" man, no office chair is tall enough for me by default and crooking my legs under the chair was starting to cause me some muscle issues. This was relatively easy to install (though you need an 18" pipe wrench and a solid mallet) and it doesn't look like adding only a few inches to the travel will help much, but it has made ALL the difference for me. 100% worth it.

Product is good and height increase is 8 inches but the info in image provided about height and increased height is wrong. It is 10.5 inch in normal and 18.5 in extended

This chair gas lift fitted my Andaseat chair and gave me more ability to increase chair height plus more weight capacity.
