The Ad for this item does not say so, but this is a residential standard 2-3/8" Backset. The other backset dimension is 2-3/4" and that is usually used on exterior doors or large format interior doors.Before you order your hardware, please make sure you know what backset is required. Be aware that Emtek will gladly supply you with a 2-3/4" backset for this item if you tell them when ordering.Due to the limitations of Amazon they do not have a pull down tab to allow you to specify the backset when ordering. Hopefully Amazon will make this correction so that all options are available when ordering from them.

The former owner of my house put these throughout, making this the easiest reasonably-priced option for a replacement. One little spring inside the handle broke on our old one. Unfortunately, the whole mechanism relies on that spring in order for the pin to be held reliably in place and keep the door closed. The old unit is about 10 years old as nearly as I can tell. So if the new one last another 10 years, I'll be happy enough. I do feel it should last longer for this price, though. The price does seem high for what it is; not including any lock. It's just a somewhat fancy looking handle. A more esthetic version of something that would normally cost about $40 at your local big box.On the plus side, they do look nice and I'm very glad they still make this exact model to match what we have.
