is this sigh ok for carry or is it too fragile?

It can be used for carry. With proper holstering, it should be fine. Many folks use iron sights for carry but many also use FO. This FO is no more or less fragile than most other FO designs.

What is the width of the rear sight slot and the width of the front sight blade?

Truglo website should provide measurements. If not, they respond promptly to email inquiries.
