Be warned.
Since Ritmo in Italy went out of business and Disney World bought up all the remaining stock of Ritmo carbon pencils this about as black as we artists will get now. I ran into rough spots in the lead, scratching my paper! Very annoying! Also, the pencil is extremely delicate and difficult to sharpen! The “lead” cannot be sharpened in a mechanical pencil sharpener and is also difficult and time consuming to sharpen by hand. If you think you’ll need two pencils buy four because you will be breaking these leads every few minutes! These pencils will make you miss Ritmo carbon pencils more than ever!

Beware
Overpriced, but a nice quality pencil, the problem is the packaging and shipping. the lead is very fragile, and most likely you will receive a pencil with shattered lead. So, If you don't want to waste your money, I suggest you pick it up in person from an art store like Dickblick, or at least order it from a reputable art store, not only you'll get it for almost half the price but you'll also get a much better packaging.

Great carbon pencil
Great carbon pencil, brilliant for tones on portraits, not to be confused with graphite. Maybe why another review didn't know what to expect. Used with charcoal and graphite it's a great pencil! Love conte !

Totally useless. Requested a immediate refund.
It wasn't possible to submit a review giving the item zero starts, hence having to give it one star. The pencil I received was totally useless. Prior to being placed in a bubble-wrap pouch before posting, it had been sharpened, yet there was no 'lead' protruding from it, nor was the missing tip inside the pouch., so it was, obviously, bagged in this condition. I tried sharpening it (branded sharpener) but despite the pencil reducing considerably in length, at no time did the 'lead' protrude from the wood. Maybe if there is a Conté à Paris bespoke sharpener available a different result might be possible. What I've written here is my own personal experience.
