Sawyer All-In-One VS Squeeze Water Filter Systems: BOTH 5 STARS, BUT ALL-IN-ONE HAS MORE ATTACHMENTS FOR MORE FLEXIBLE USES!
Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter Versus Sawyer All-In-One Water Filter I bought two of each of these filter systems with the spare squeeze bags of 1 and 2 liter capacities for use by students in remote areas of the Amazon River Basin. Firstly, Sawyer has pioneered the use of smaller (0.1 and 0.02 micron) uniform hollow fiber fast-flow filters for water purification. These are available from Sawyer as many different systems. This review is about the merits of the Sawyer 0.1 (`pointzeroone') Squeeze Water Purifier System and the Sawyer 0.1 All-In-One Water Purifier System. Both of these systems are supplied include the same 60 ml backflushing syringe and the 0.1 micron filter unit which is guaranteed to filter up to an unprecedented 1 million gallons!! WOW! Importantly, the filter fibers must be `pre-wetted' before use which is easy to perform (see Sawyer web site) and back-flushed with clean water using the included syringe after use to ensure the long filter life. Sawyer Products PointOne Squeeze Water Filtration System Sawyer PointONE All in One Filter N.B. 0.1 micron is slightly smaller than the 0.2 micron pore size provided by other companies water filters and ensures that even the thinnest bacteria (e.g. Leptospira interrogans serovars which may cause severe `Weil's disease' and pulmonary leptospirosis in humans), some of which (enough for us to culture in our laboratory) can get through 0.2 micron pores cannot get through 0.1 micro pores (see some of my scientific publications of Leptospira interrogans if you want). The Sawyer Squeeze system in provided with one or three different sized (0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 liter) bags (obviously with different prices: see below)) with screw thread attachments to the water filter. Thus, just choose the water volume you require, fill up the appropriate sized water bag required (or collect in a larger container for multiple fill of the bag), screw the bag into the filter unit and gently squeeze the water through the filter into a clean receptacle or directly into your mouth. The Sawyer Squeeze Water Filtration System costs $ 35.00 with one water bag (pouch) or $ 40.42 with the three different sized bag (pouches). Since these bags may break if subjected to excessive pressure, spare bags of 0.5, 0.1 ($ 9.00 for 3 bags) or 2.0 ($ 9.00 for two bags) can be obtained: Sawyer Products Squeezable Pouches By contrast, the Sawyer All-In-One is a system which can be used with either; a) the two squeeze bags (12 oz (approximately 400 ml: N.B, VERY SMALL) or 32 oz (1 liter)) included, b) a fawcet/tap water attachment with a connecting tube which is included, or c) a large bucket (not included) through the included drill bit, connectors and washers and tubing so as to filter large capacities of water by gravity. N.B. SAWYER CLAIM THAT YOU DO NOT NEED AN ELECTRIC DRILL TO DRILL THE REQUIRED HOLE IN A BUCKET, BUT I WOULD NEED AT LEAST A PAIR OF PLIERS FOR THIS TASK SINCE IT IS DIFFICULT TO SECURELY GRIP THE BASE OF THE DRILL BIT TO DRILL WITH IT USING YOUR HANDS. SOME SAND PAPER WOULD ALSO HELP TO SMOOTH THE DRILLED EDGES IN THE BUCKET TO MAKE A WATER-TIGHT FIT FROM THE SUPPLIED 'PLUMBING' ATTACHMENTS TO THE OUTLET TUBE! Thus, the Sawyer All-In-One system allows for squeeze bag pressure, fawcet pressure, or gravitational pressure and is a really versatile system. The fawcet connector is ideal for connection to the fawcets in field and hotels/houses where the water quality is likely to be suspect, while the bucket connector is suitable for larger teams of people, or if staying for long periods of time in one area with a suspect tap water supply. As expected, however, the All-In-One filter system is MORE EXPENSIVE at a cost of $ 54.45. Importantly, these squeeze bags, fawcet and bucket attachments can be used on any of the Sawyer filters and you can use them on the very small 1-2 person Sawyer Mini filter system which comes in five different colors (black, blue, green, orange and pink) (useful for identification of whose is whose filter in a family/group situation), only costs $ 20.00 (or $ 17.00 each if you buy the more economical 4 pack of different colors), and which is ideal for short breaks with only 1-2 persons (maximum filtration 100,000 gallons : i.e. 10x less than the larger filters). Sawyer Products Mini Water Filtration System In conclusion, I believe that both the Sawyer Squeeze and the All-In-One Water Purification systems are both 5 Star products, but I am willing the additional money to buy the flexibility of the Sawyer All-In-One system. The author declares that No Conflicts Of Interest Exist in the review of these two products, or any other products mentioned in this review. Excellent Filter
Sawyer SP181 PointOne Water Filtration Kit I bought this kit paying a few dollars ($11.00) more than the standard kit but it adds so much versatility it is well worth the money. The standard kit comes with 3 bags of various sizes where this kit comes with 2 pop-up drinking spouts, 1 bucket adapter kit, 1 faucet adapter and two of the smaller bags. Both options come with the syringe for back flushing. So you are giving up two larger sized bags, which the other reviews say the worst part of system, for quite a bit more. Also the bags are narrow at the top which makes filling them from a lake or stream more difficult. Just having the options to create a gravity fed filtration system was worth the price deference for me let alone the ability to hook it up to a facet. For those unfamiliar with a gravity fed system it basically lets you add dirty water to one bucket and letting gravity filter it down to a clean bucket. No pushing on the bag etc it just filters via gravity. Great option for camping when filtering larger amounts of water. I added: Tornado Tube - turns the male connection into a female connection, will let you collect water in a 2 liter or any plastic bottle and connect it right to the filter. Amazon Sawyer Inline Hydration Pack Adapter for Screw On Filter, just ads more options to what you can add to the kit, for example allows you to attach a plastic tube to the water out/clean water to extend its reach (this move the clean water source to reduce the possibility of dirty water getting mixed with your filtered water, it will also let you run plastic tubes from the bag to the filter for gravity feeding. Amazon Nalgene 96-Ounce Wide Mouth Canteen Water Bottle - this is a large well-made collapsible water pouch that is easy to fill from stream or lake. Amazon Jetflow Adapters (2 pack) $14.99 I bought this directly from Jetflow, it lets you take the wide mouth of the Nalgene 96 oz bottle down to fit the water filter. You can't beat this filter and all the options for using it let alone that it is guaranteed to filter over million gallons.

Excellent quality
The full size sawyer filter has a higher flow rate than the mini or the micro, and you can filter more water between back flushing. It's the best size for a family or group, in my opinion, for those reasons. It is also a good investment for those who do not cook with tap water because it will pay for itself within a couple of weeks since they wouldn't need to purchase water anymore. The kit does not come with instructions for setting up the faucet or bucket system, but there are a couple good tutorials on YouTube. You will have to supply your own bucket, because the kit does not come with one. The faucet adaptation is what I use at home BUT YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WITH THE WATER PRESSURE FROM YOUR FAUCET. I attach the filter the hose and wiggle the hose onto the faucet. Then I slowly turn the water up until there is a good clear flow through the filter. I have not turned my faucet on all the way because I'm worried that my high water pressure may tear the filter since the Sawyer was originally designed for gravity fed flow and squeeze pouches. And when you back flush the filter you will be suprized at how much junk comes out depending on where you live and what your city's water source is. And every filter, when properly back flushed, has the power to filter over 100K gallons of water. To put that into perspective, the government recommends you plan for 2 gallons of water a day per person for drinking, cooking, and sanitation in an emergency. So 100K gallons of water is sufficient to supply a family of 4 for over 34 YEARS. If this review reads like an ad I am sorry, I just really love Sawyer water filters and have used them when backpacking, fishing, camping, and hunting. I have filtered stagnant water sources as well as clean mountain streams and have never gotten sick from the water the filter has produced. This package is a great buy for outdoors enthusiasts, health nuts, and preppers.

An Outstanding Water Filter!
I have used this on a couple backpacking trips and not only is it FAST and convenient to use, but it removes giardia and cryptosporidium. Much better that the PUR (now Katadyn) Hiker filter I was using. I like all the attachments that enable this filter to be used during a disaster or in a exotic location where water out of a faucet is suspect. I have added one to my disaster kit. It is very small and lightweight, meaning I now take this filter on day drips, just in case. Highly recommended! === New Updated Info November 2013 === I have used the filter extensively now, and still give it a 5 star review. I would like to share a few tips... 1. Some have reported that their squeezable pouch leaks. I have 4 pouches and none of them have leaked at all so far. Your mileage may vary. 2. You can't simply submerge the pouch to fill it. This may seem obvious to some. I carry a military canteen cup to ladle water into the pouch when I refill from a puddle, lake or similar water source. 3. I use a bandana to pre-filter the water before putting it in the pouch. This helps keep the filter clean from blockages. 4. I carry a couple extra 32 oz pouches which you can buy separately here -> Sawyer Squeezable Pouch, 3-Pack . You can fill them when you come upon a water source and then continue on your way, and filter it when set up camp. Especially useful during the summer, when you can't trust that you will have water where you intended to stop for the night.

Best filter for the money!Period!
I have owned quite alot of filtration units both for travel and home emergencies over the years. Two months ago one of my Berkey drip filters drip spout was broken and I went ahead and took the opportunity to look for a new more cost effective, perhaps even better filter than my Berkey. I looked at Katydine pump filters and water bottle filters, but was unimpressed with the pump simply because it was to expensive and was pretty slow. I heard there was something such as a squeeze filter but had my doubts since after trying a pump. To my surprise squeeze filters seemed to be alot faster than a regular pump. I started searching for a squeeze filter and found the Sawyer SP131 for a decent price. Since I have a family I and used to use a drip filter and bucket I was looking for a system that I could atatch to a large bucket to keep my family well hydrated. I found the SP181 for about the same price with exactly what I needed, it also came with the same great filter like the sp131. For the money and all the applications this filter can be modified for it is unbeatable and at a 0.2 micron size it filters better than any pump. A must for a SHTF filter or for a gould hikeing filter.

easy to use and reliable
This sawyer water filter is a must have for outdoor use and international travel. I always bring it with me no matter where we go because it's light, easy to use and reliable. It filters pretty fast and works as either a forced flow (squeezing the pouches/ faucet water pressure) or as an in-line filter (camelback, large camp water bag, etc). Note: The pouches are difficult to fill in non-flowing or shallow water so I bring a disposable water bottle (16oz, 1 liter, etc) with the bottom cut off and use that as a scoop to transfer water into the pouches if need be. For international travel to areas with questionable water: Find a 1 or 2 liter bottle (or a gallon water bottle) and use the faucet adapter to fill from the tap. The adapter really only works well on a round water faucets so bring your pouches just in case. Note2: If you screw either the pouch or one of the adapters too tight to the IN flow side, the soft rubber washer inside will pinch up and it will leak. Make sure it's snug but not too tight.

good purchas
Sawyer filters well known for high quality and reasonable price. PointOne Emergency filter is one of my best systems. I have to mention that I have two water system from Sawyer 0.1 and 0.02, & I love both of them. This system is much faster than 0.02micron, and may sаve your time while on the go. What is this system good for? Well, this is an excellent filter that will last life long!!! I'm serious, lets see the numbers: 1.000.000 gallons would be enough (1 gallon/day) to keep hydrated your community (if you have one). *50 people community can use this system for period of 55 years (approximately) *10 people community can take advantage of this filter for a long time, almost 274 years *1 person may use this filter for period of 2740 years (I don't think people live that long :) All in all I've used Sawyer filters for more than 5 yeas now, and I never regretted about my choice. For thous who doesn't have a community yet, don't be upset, this filter system might be your lucky ticket to one of those, when time comes.

Excellent system this is if u like the outdoors buy this and u will not need to carry excess water ever again absolutely brilliant. Will last u a lifetime as long as u don't let it freeze but if u do they are not expensive. Around£25 not bad for 500 thousand gallons of filtered water.
