is the blade black and can you spar with it

This is a full battle ready sword they are awesome .But it is a real sword i would not suggest sparing with it.unless you dont like your body parts.

Is the handle guard thingy interchangeable? Like can I swap it out with one already have?

Not likely. I tried to disassemble mine and realize that besides the bamboo pegs, everything was glued together with some sort of epoxy. If you can manage to get it all off despite the glue, then hypothetically yes you could.
