I need to raise the handlebars on my bike as they were too low causing me back ache. I purchased the stem riser to help me achieve this. It was easy to fit, took about 20 minutes. The riser has achieved what I wanted, a better riding position. It was also great value for money £11 cheaper than the part if i'd ordered from the bikes manufacturer.

There seem to be a lot of almost identical looking riser stems available. So it's hard to choose between them, but this one had all the necessary dimensions for my needs and was a reasonable price - not as expensive as a big name brand but not suspiciously cheap either. I wanted it to raise the handlebars on my partner's bike but didn't know exactly how much so I needed an adjustable angle. When I installed this item it appeared well made and solid (important because this is a critical component and failure could result in dire consequences!). Found a good handlebar height/reach position for my partner's bike so it's done the job. Sure it's a bit heavy but that's inevitable given the swivel joint and the need for it to be strong. And now that I know the angle and extension required I could replace it with a rigid one of the correct length and angle, which would be lighter. My only criticism is that the top bolt securing it to the steerer tube is quite close to the top of the stem so you need to take particular care not to overtighten that bolt (especially if you have a carbon steerer) or you could crush the top edge of the steerer tube. Not so likely if you're set up with spacers above the stem - though you probably wouldn't have that arrangement if you need a riser stem in the first place!

coupled this with a slightly bigger handle bars and bingo no back ache for the first time since I brought bike ,it just allows for that little bit of adjustment I needed . the new bars helped coupled it with this stem and bingo no back ache. a very good buy

Perfect for getting the correct position on my Scott Trekking Bike...2 minutes to change the old parallel original stem...You wont be disappointed.. Very good buy and cheap as chips..!!

It slips after time due to no matter how tight to make the bolt and loosens on long journeys

If this was not like this I suspect the product would work well.
