Fabulous Brush!
Wow, pretty sure this is going to be one of my favorite brushes - and that is saying a lot. I've got lots of really great brushes. Hard to explain but just the way it moves, the point - I love everything about this brush. I have the size 2 and am considering getting other sizes.

Great value.
I really like these brushes. They are stiffer than many other watercolor brushes I use but they hold a lot of pigment and they have a great point. I have sizes 2 - 10. They are a great value. Escoda makes fantastic brushes.

Escoda Dagger Watercolor Brush
The brush is gorgeous. That being said, it’s lucky it even arrived in one piece. The brush was $27. It was literally rolling around in the box, with a couple of those larger air bubble packagings on top of it. The brush did not have a firm plastic piece around the soft bristles, nor was it placed into any plastic envelope to protect the entire brush. It’s a miracle that the fine white daggered bristles were not mangled. Such a magnificent brush should not be transported in that manner.

Fantastic brush
This small dagger watercolor brush is perfect for any small detail application. It costs a little more, but you forget the cost when you use it. You just love using it!

Love the brush BUT
The best part was Speedball sent the brush in a safe manner with the tip waxed in a plastic tip tube. This means that I will buy from them whenever possible. As for the brush. It's stiff so if you like to feel like you are drawing when you paint this is the kind of brush that works for that. It is supposed to hold water but with a brush this stiff you are pretty limited in that regard. Although it is stiff the fibers are soft. If you want to spend less but get the same feel the Princeton Snap White Taklon are close and you can a pack of four for 10 bucks. They are perhaps not quite as stiff.

Favorite brush
Turned out to be the most useful brush I have. I have a good number of brushes for watercolor. Different brand and price range. I used to prefer natural hair brushes in general. This brush became a pleasant surprise especially for the price. It is now one of my favorite. I noticed that I use it more often than any others. Holding just enough water and great for details.

Quality Brush, Sloppy Packaging
The stipulation: Buying brushes outside of a box set on Amazon is a gamble. Prior to purchase I'd read many reviews of paint brushes (from a variety of companies) that had arrived bent and damaged upon delivery, so I was not shocked when my brush arrived in similar fashion. The brush was packaged in a medium yellow bubble-lined envelope with no protection around it to prevent it from shifting around. There was a small clear plastic tube at the top of the brush meant to protect the bristles, however the plastic bit was partially snapped and the head of the brush was smashed into a 45 degree angle. While I was able to manipulate the bristles nearly back into shape, they still sit slightly angled.Despite the damage, I still really enjoy using this brush. The tip of the brush was preserved, fortunately, so it's still been a useful addition to my collection. I love the control and precision it provides. It comes to a really nice point and holds it's shape, which has been perfect for detail work using watercolor and gouache. The brush also retains a nice amount of paint/moisture, so I don't need to re-dip into the paint quite as often. The bottom line: If you can live with your brush potentially being damaged upon arrival, then I would still recommend purchasing this brush from Amazon. If not, I'd say save your money and stick with a set that has brush caps or comes in its own protective container. While I appreciate that there's an effort being made to cut back on unnecessary packaging/waste for Amazon deliveries, I would implore brush companies like Escoda to better protect their loose brushes in their own boxes -- much like they would for their brush sets -- to preserve the quality of their products.

A very fine brush
Great for doing fine detail and beautifully thin lines while being a vegan brush.
