The handle does not extend beyond the bottom edge of the box unit. It appears to be balanced evenly when loaded. I hope this answers your question.

Hey D, I’m not sure about the blue. Amazon only had the gray when I ordered it. You could check with Polder directly, if you haven’t already, and see if other colors are made. I hope this helps.
