Honest kitchen is a human grade food that is one of the few dog foods I have found to be transparent. The actual complete nutritional content is readily available. Most foods hide that and only offer guaranteed analysis. My dog loves her food too. I’m our opinion, this is one of the best dry dog foods.

For the past seven years, my 13-year-old fur companion, Millie, has been thriving on Honest Kitchen Small Breed Grain-Free products, and you'd never guess her age! It all started when I stumbled upon this canine culinary gem at Kraisers, a pet store in California. Being a dedicated pet parent, I've always scrutinized dog food labels, firmly believing that the key to a dog's longevity lies in the quality of their diet. Unlike some popular, budget-friendly alternatives like Beneful, which Millie enjoyed during dog-sitting sessions with my mom, Honest Kitchen Small Breed has proven to be a game-changer. Although the appeal of sugar-laden options is undeniable, the resulting upset stomach and discomfort were enough to shift our focus. Honest Kitchen's human-grade ingredients give me peace of mind, and it reflects positively during vet visits when they inquire about Millie's diet. The satisfaction of knowing that I am providing her with top-notch nutrition is immeasurable. Recently moving in with my boyfriend, whose furry companion struggled with skin allergies, we transitioned his dog to Honest Kitchen. The results were remarkable—no more incessant itching. Even after following the vet's recommendations of special food and salmon oil, it was Honest Kitchen that truly made a difference. My dog loves it. Only problem is that he is ignoring his other kibble. I took off a star due to the cost. I need him to still eat his regular kibble, too, cost-wise. It can be powdery because I guess the kibbles aren’t real hard. That part is ok, because Henry just licks his bowl. He has recently had dental surgery, is 13, and has had 11 teeth total pulled, so I kind of like that it isn’t hard. I did notice this one is grain free. I don’t want grain free any more. So my next order is for the whole grain one.

I've used Honest Kitchen dehydrated foods for around a decade now - they're great for travel, adding a bit of variety to food-stuffed toys, or hiding medications - and I'm comfortable enough with the company to have tried these grain free clusters despite them being very carb heavy. My dogs are raw fed and generally don't get much in the way of carbs except the very small amount they get once or twice a week in the Honest Kitchen base mix. I don't feed them this food as their diet, but I do use it as training treats. My dogs range in size from 15 to 130 pounds, and they all go wild for this not-kibble, but it is never more than 10% of their daily calories. I've purchased the small 1 and 3 pound bags of the large clusters in local pet stores, but this is the same formula just in smaller pieces and a larger bag size. When it went on sale for $45/bag, I bought two bags because my dogs love these "treats" so much. Obviously, having 20 pounds of "treats"It sitting around meant my dogs were getting way more of these treats than other treats, and these clusters definitely did pack some weight on all of my dogs over the course of about ten days, especially my two seniors (who are both still very active.) This would be mostly fine, except that I didn't add any extra calories to their daily intake and their breath is horrid when it's normally just unscented hot air like a typical raw fed dog. They also all started eating loads of grass every time we go outside, stool is much softer, and coats dry and gross feeling. I stopped using these as their main treats and went back to dehydrated single protein treats, and their breath, stool, and coats are returning to normal. They do get a few of these treats in their busy boxes or as random rewards while we work on training, but the second unopened bag I bought went to the shelter with me to be added to the enrichment program there. Not a terribly bad food, and great if you're looking to put weight on a thinner dog, but you just might be disappointed in this particular product if your dogs are raw fed. Three stars because the ingredients list isn't garbage and my dogs absolutely love these little morsels, but they are a bit pricey and made all of my dogs into smelly beasts.
