I found this drum after hunting for a solid musical toy for my son that could stand up to some heavy use and be a quality product. Plan Toys delivered! I've had as much fun playing it as my son. The different tones are excellent, and it is about as sturdy as it can be. If I had to find a con, I wish the middle tone area had a support under it like the other two do. I understand why it doesn't musically but that creates the only potential point of failure. Even with that said, it would take some heavy use/abuse to break anything. Great sound, well-built, looks good, and safe... a perfect toy!

This little drum is a welcome addition for any 15 month old child and older. It has lovely and pleasant sounds when the mallet hits the different areas of the drum, which made our little guy thrilled. The drum is wooden with no sharp edges. This was a wonderful gift

My grand daughter loves her drum, it is very sturdy and well worth the price, it comes in a very nice sturdy box. It is very well made and has a very nice sound, there are three different sounds depending on where you hit on it and so that makes it fun to play with, when I got it I had to try it out and had a hard time putting it back in the box to wrap cause I wanted to keep playing with it LOL!

I first bought two of these drums for my Baby Play Groups, after reading many reviews. It`s a high quality toy, that attends and respects young children`s needs: quality materials, quality sound and resistant. My own kids (who are older) also love playing with it. One of the things that surprised me and liked me the most is the fact that the yellow end of the stick is not wood, but rubber. This is wonderful for sound and security reasons too! One of my drums was not as perfectly finished as the other (lateral wood wheel is not perfectly coincident with bottom wood circle, so a thin but a bit sharp edge of wood is there). I would recomend this toy to anyone searching for good sound, good price and durability.

I bought this drum to have on hand when my two grandsons came to visit, both 17 months old at the time. I liked the simple, natural look and feel, and really liked the mellow, pleasant sound when the drum was struck. Depending on where you strike the drum you get one of three different tones. A down side is that you have to strike it in the center section to get the tones; if you strike the drum less than about 1.5 inches from the outer edge, you get a flat, dull sound. It's still "play-withable" of course, but the sound isn't as nice. One grandchild immediately was entranced and spent a lot of time with the drum, particularly after he figured out he could get different tones. The other grandchild was totally unimpressed and would throw away the drumstick when I tried to get him interested. After a couple days, though, he began to play with it too - maybe through watching first grandchild. Based on this limited experience, my affinity for simple wood toys, and a belief that they would enjoy it more in conjunction with singing or other musical instruments being played, I gave the drum four stars.

I absolutely love this drum and would buy it again in a heart beat. It's made completely of wood with three little rubber feet on the bottom. There are three tones you can hit on various parts, which really do sound lovely, especially since it's not super loud. It's clearly sturdy as there have been no problems with it occasionally being tossed off the couch. Unfortunately, it seems that my husband and I have more fun playing with it than the toddler. She mostly uses it as something to stand on (and sometimes as a step stool) or occasionally chews in the rubber feet or the mallet head when she's teething. I'm hoping that at some point she'll grow into wanting to play with it more than just a few bangs (and outgrow the step stool phase). If not, I'll still have fun playing with it!

This is a wonderful toy. My one year old loves it, and so do I. The best thing about it is that the drum sounds musical, not harsh at all like other drums that have snare drum type sounds. It actually has different "notes" depending on where you hit it with the mallet. With little guys, you have to be careful that they don't walk around with the mallet in their mouths, but other than that it's definitely a winner. The rubber end of the mallet is very soft and sturdy (my boy does chew on it a lot, and it hasn't budgeted one iota). If your kids are going to bang on stuff, might as well make the sounds pretty, I say. Well made, easily a multi-gen hand-down toy.

Bought this for my son's first birthday, and the three older kids are anxiously awaiting it becoming communal property. The mallet is just right for little hands, solid enough to be grasped easily, but not so chunky it slides out of his grip. The drum tone is nicely tolerable and not too loud. If you're looking for something tuned, this isn't the instrument for you...no "Mary Had A Little Lamb"...but the tones are melodic and have a nice resonance. The drum hasn't been subjected to a lot of kid abuse, yet, but it feels solid, and I gave it some healthy taps when it arrived. I don't see my crew managing to inflict any damage short of a deliberate attempt to break it with extreme measures. ETA: five years later, drum is still going strong despite hard use by five kids.

I bought this beautiful drum as a Christmas present for my Grandson who is 15 months old. He loves making sounds and I know he will love it.

This is a lovely toy, really well made. It is however a little old at the moment for my 14 month old son. He got the idea very quickly and really enjoys it however he is also teething and keeps chewing on the drumstick. As this could possibly end up a safety hazard I will put it away for a few months till he a little older. It was very worth the money though and makes a lovely sound, I am glad that I got it for him.

Excellent toy for small children 12 months and up. It's really well-made and highly entertaining for little ones. Only thing to watch out for is if the child is mouthing everything, because they will likely chew on rubber end of the drumstick.
