Most exciting book I've read in ages
Abu is a terrorist . . . maybe. Ruth and Nick have a simple job babysitting him until MI6 arrive in the barren lands near Snowdonia. But nothing is what it seems. Nick goes through the most demanding and horrifying events of his life . . . all while Amanda is delivering their first child. This book wouldn't let me put it down. Nothing got done until I reached the end, then I wanted to read it all over again.

Great Changeup
Pleasantly surprised with the change in the storyline. This one will keep you guessing till the end. Nice action and heroes from everywhere.

page turner
Different feel to this good series with this book. Surprise twist to the story. DCI Ruth Hunter always says to go with your gut; neither she nor her partner, Nick do that til it is nearly too late while helping MI5 with a terrorist prisoner.

Once again
Once again the team takes a prisoner out in the woods. What can go wrong this time? Nick's girlfriend is in labor for one thing. And it gets worse from there.

Skip this one!
Absolutely awful action filled terrorism plot. First book in the series that I’ve actually disliked. Please return to interesting Welsh murder mysteries.

A fast paced complex thriller!
DCI Hunt is forced to do an easy prisoner transport task - what follows is a twist of Events that just goes on and on. It kept me up reading to the wee hours!

The White forest killings
I Loved the whole series it was absolutely riveting and the wonderful description of the beautiful north Wales mountains, towns and villages I was familiar with quite few. Just loved the plots and the main characters. Highly readable

Not very good
I have read all the previous books and really enjoyed them. I pre-ordered this one. Wish I hadn’t bothered. The author departed completely from his previous style. It’s totally unbelievable. No real plot. No mystery, Just crash, bang, shoot! No exploration of the characters, no genuine reactions to shootings right in front of them, I’m really annoyed I paid good money for this! The only good thing about it is that it is very short!

Disappointing after the previous in the series
I've followed the Snowdonia series since it started and I've enjoyed the plots, in general, the building of the main characters and the details of the location. I pre-ordered this one, but after much anticipation I was disappointed. I found the plot thin and wanting, and frankly too far-fetched to make any allowances. In previous books, Nick has been something of an action man, perhaps a little too much at times. However this book took him into action man fantasy land and I felt I was reading the script of a predictable bang crash action movie, not something I would choose to watch. This read like a quickly penned 'filler' with little or none of the complexity I found earlier in the series. I've enjoyed the development of Ruth's and Nick's stories previously but I don't think this book progressed them at all while we were stuck with the action in the forest. I'll still try the next in the series to see where they go next.

Disappointing
I have read the previous books in the series and found them fairly good. This one, however, seems very short, more like one episode in a book, and I cannot believe a transfer of a major terrorist to a safe house would be carried out in such a disorganised and unmonitored way. To say much more would be unfair on those still to read it, so suffice it to say that it was not the author's best!

Disappointing and unrealistic
I have loved this series of books, but this was not anywhere near as good as the earlier books. I think there has to be some realism in the story, and I cannot believe a DI and DS from a rural force would have been given this assignment. It would have been special branch. I did like the twist at the end, but hope the next book takes us back to a more realistic situation. Sorry!
