When they say “pocket size“ they’re not kidding. I imagine a man could tuck this in his trouser pocket, front or back, and it would not create any distortion at all, certainly not anymore than a cell phone would. I imagine the compactness of this Bible is the main reason people buy it. I can read it without my glasses, which is more than I can say for most instruction labels on products that I buy. If you are a woman looking for a compact Bible for your purse, you can definitely go up to a larger size than this one. This one is small enough to fit in the breast pocket of a shirt. This is basically the same kind of Bible like those little Gideon new Testaments most of us received at vacation Bible school when we were kids, but the cover on this is much softer, and the pages flip and turn easily. Lastly, this being the English standard version, as opposed to archaic Shakespearean English that the average American struggles to, read, is another reason it’s so great to hand out to people you’re trying to introduce to the Bible. I wish they could offer this excellent quality at a lower price so I could buy cases of them. I’ll watch for them to go on sale. Meanwhile, I can snatch up a few here and there as my budget allows.

My new favorite pocket NT/psalms/proverbs! I was given a Gideons pocket bible by a random stranger many years ago, it has seen better days and I wanted something a bit more personal to replace it. Believe it or not, these little PALM sized Nt/psalm/proverbs, are not all that easy to find in all areas across the US - I can tell you that there are no stores within 40 miles of me that carry them, and the ones beyond that do, carry it in the form of the good ol’ KJV. If you’re looking for a decent quality palm sized sword of the Lord to carry with you daily, you’ve found it. Similar to the Gideons, this one also includes a “where to turn for help” section and more, which I once upon a time to be beyond useful…who am I kidding, I still do. Buy this little guy, you won’t be disappointed.

Wow! This literally fits in my pocket, its smaller than a small cell phone. No excuse not to bring this to mass and read along! High quality materials, feels great and the pages are high quality, appreciate it!

Great pocket sized bible. Not much more to say when the description is accurate to the product. It is an essential part of my everyday carry (edc).

Despite the pictures, I didn't really grasp just how small this book is. Mind you, it's the size I was hoping for. The text is remarkable clear. I can read it without my glasses, and it is a red-letter Bible. The binding is strong and thorough, so I expect it to hold up for years of frequent use. Despite the small size, it is by no means stiff. There is no fighting with it to stay on a certain page. It easily remains open. It's nice to have such a portable copy of the New Testament in the form of a modern translation (say what you will about the ESV, I like it and will debate why). That it includes Psalms and Proverbs in the tiny format is useful and impressive. The price is right, you can't go wrong.

Just received my copy and, looking it over, am very pleased with the quality especially for the amazingly low price. It arrived in perfect condition and it's a nicely put together little New Testament + volume. It is truly the first such volume that I've seen that truly deserves the name "pocket sized". It fits completely even in my shirt pocket and it fits easily in my jacket pocket even with the flap buttoned. Of course it is not real leather, but it is still attractive and I didn't expect a premium Bible. It's nice enough; easy to hold and open; the pages are thin but not delicate; the print is very small but with the dark ink and white paper even I with my bad eyes can read it comfortably in good light. The ESV translation is a good literal translation but still retains some traditional elegance as a legacy of this family of translations. I am a Catholic and this is the original non-Catholic version (there is a Catholic version) but I researched the differences and they are minimal and mostly inconsequential. The only problem verse is Luke 1:28 which is rendered "favored one", but this is problematic translation even in many some modern Catholic Bibles as well, so to me this is not a show-stopper. A big bonus for me is the inclusion of the Psalms and Proverbs. This is almost unknown in a pocket New Testament There are three short essays at the beginning of the volume, (1) "Before you begin..." talking about the New Testament in general; (2) "About the ESV" which is self-explanatory; and (3) "What is the Message of the Bible?" The first essay is nice, the second one was informative, and the 3rd one was OK except it seemed to endorse the questionable doctrine of "penal substitution" and a minimalist approach to becoming and living as a Christian. All this is understandable since this is a Protestant produced volume, but it is enough that I probably wouldn't whole-heartedly recommend or gift it to a fellow Catholic unless I knew they recognized and understood these issues. There are some other sections directing readers to helpful Scripture quotes, fairly standard in Bibles that you would give to new believers or Bible beginners. Summary: I am very pleased with the physical qualities of this volume especially the quality construction and potability. I love the translation and the content except for some (to me) problematic theological content in the essays. Overall, I'm glad to have this.
