Kiko

I think Kiko is the best Los Lobos album. The songs are amazing.This anniversary edition has some extra tracks - well worth the purchase,Saw Los Lobos live at some festival in California around this era. Incredible. They did a couple of tunes, then said "What do you want to hear?". Crazy. No set list. Just audience yelling out requests. Best concert I ever went to.So many awesome songs here. Saint Behind the Glass, Two Janes, Whisky Trail, Peace (best guitar riff in history), When the Circus Comes to Town - all among their best. If you don't get a lump in your throat or a tear in your eye, you have no heart. No soul.

For years, the only Los Lobos I have owned is their first major-label album, "How Will the Wolf Survive". I've enjoyed it for years but have not purchased any others for some reason. When I bought this anniversary edition of Kiko, I was a little off-put at first: Some songs seemed more "stream of consciousness" and the musical style was more expanded.Upon repeated listening, I have really warmed to this album! Yes! Their musical style has grown and they deftly handle it all. The anniversary edition comes with second takes and live versions of many songs, and in every case, I find I like these extended versions even better than the original album versions.Since I transfer all my music onto a dedicated hard disc player, I have created my own file that incorporates these versions, replacing the originals. Whether you do something similar, or simply listen straight through to all the selection, this is a really enjoyable recording.

If you are a lover of these boys and don’t have this album or cd, I suggest you get it. This album, “Kiko" is the bands step into their progressive yet soulful personality. The guys let their imagination, creativity and tremendous skill/artistry take flight. I love it and deem it required for any "Lobos" collection

This record rocks! It stands toe to toe with any album in the rock 'n roll era. Total Pepper quality in the Los Lobos catalogue. A new high. I remember when this came out and liked the songs i heard on the radio but never bought the album. I did buy  Latin Playboys  which is from this era and with the same style and producer. It's great too. But kiko is just amazing. Amazon recommended this to me and i got it and it is up there with any of my all time favorites now.Really great guitar playing! The songs are diverse but unified. Focused and wide at the same time. Easy to get into but very rich music. The production really is special and dense with great effects perfectly married to the music bringing everything to a higher level. Just put it on a be immersed in a really cool record that grows with each listen. Los Lobos rock and this record does too.

This stands the test of time. When I first got it I listened all the time and got tired if it. Now it sounds like a breath of fresh air. They turned a huge corner with this album.

This is an outstanding album by the legendary LA band Los Lobos. Don’t wait around; just buy it and also go see them in concert like I did

The first record I received inexplicably had oil spills all over the cover of the album. I was able to send it back at no charge and get a new one that is in great condition. One of my favorite albums!!

Good album from a good band

This is a great record and the MoFi re-master is exceptional, both in sound and pressing quality.All expensive vinyl re-masters should be this way.
