SunTek 68" UV Protection Wind Cheater Vented Canopy Umbrella

Functions exactly as expected. It was only in the low 80's but because the sun wasn't beating on me, the airflow created while walking made me feel cooler. Takes a little getting used to, though. I'm only 6-0 tall and need to duck down a bit to get under the canopy. Not much of an issue at all. The other, and more important thing to get used to is that the umbrella will pitch back and forth a bit while pushing the cart and on bumpy terrain. This is NOT an issue with the product, rather, a result of physics. Got hit in the face 3 times during the first round using it, all while leaning forward during an uphill push. Finally learned to cant my head left or right during an uphill push or assist the umbrella shaft by grasping it. Got breezy in the afternoon and had to lower the canopy a few times to prevent the cart from moving or the umbrella from taking off. All in all, however, this umbrella is a bargain for less than $40 and does exactly what you expect, that is, keep the sun off of your body. I look forward to being cooler this summer while golfing. Lastly, I purchased the 68" umbrella which is actually 58" in diameter. The 68" measurement takes in the curvature of the canopy. It's the perfect size, IMO.

I bought this 2 years ago primarily as a sun shade for hiking in very hot/sunny and treeless areas of the western US. I'd owned a less well built golf umbrella, that, despite its weaknesses, served me pretty well for one season. This is far and away superior to my old one. First, the reflective mylar top is amazing at keeping you cooler underneath, and much better at blocking out the UV. Secondly, the wind gusset/venting system is phenomenal. My first non Suntek cheapy died in a moderate gust of wind. I limped through and finished the vacation with it, but it had broken pieces and less coverage. Thirdly, the fiberglass construction gives some peace of mind when there is lightning threatening. Fourthly, I cant believe the amazing price. After owning one for a couple of years -- still going strong and surviving many, many high wind gusts -- I can say the quality of materials, design, and workmanship are second to none. I would gladly pay much more if necessary to get something this well thought out. I use it as a trekking pole when not overhead, and it really doesn't weigh enough more than a carbon fiber pole for me to notice any difference. On the ground, augmented with a 15D silnylon rain poncho, I can quickly setup a 360 degree storm or overnight shelter in a pinch. Versatile, strong, light, inexpensive -- simply amazing. Way to go, Suntek! I'll be doing some hiking with my wife and my niece on different trips this summer, and I'm buying another for them to use, and so that I'll have a spare, just in case. Just get one of these. You will not be sorry!

I'm fair skinned. I bought this SunTek Umbrella because more and more companies are using an ingredient in their sun care projucts that I'm highly allergic to. Homosalate. They've starting putting it even the so called sensitive and baby formulations of sunscreens and sunblocks that I used to be able to use with no problems. Also, I've been increasingly concerned about how many sunscreens are themselves considered carcinogenic! It's like I can't win. I don't want skin cancer, but I also don't want to slather myself in greasy creams that just increase my discomfort in the summer heat, that in many cases have made me start to break out in rashes. This umbrella is fantastic. Sturdy, and perfect for any kind of weather. Rain, snow, wind, sun, you name it. It's big enough to share, and it made this past summer so much more bearable for me. It reflects HEAT AWAY FROM YOU. Honest, you'll stay cooler and more comfortable when you use this. Cons? Well it's kind of huge. And while I may make one myself it would be very handy if they made the sleeve that it comes in with a strap so you could sling it over your shoulder when you've not using it. Some people may find it cumbersome because it's so big. For me this was a minor issue because anything that protects me from the sun that isn't some nasty lotion is a big deal.

Pros: It does an EXCELLENT job of blocking the sun. Living in a desert climate, the difference betweens standing under this umbrella and a friends was substantial. With normal umbrellas, a certain amount of the heat seems to radiate from the underside of the canopy itself, and the reflective coating does a good job... well, at reflecting. It is rather large, but I can live with that- it can easily shade three people side by side, if you are willing to sacrifice some amount of personal space. Cons: During extensive usage, the latch on the umbrella has failed to fully engage twice, closing on my head. While more humorous than irritating, I'm more concerned about the long term prospects of said latch which is composed of a metal tooth that catches on a plastic ring adhered to the main fiberglass pole. The plastic ring is already developing a slight groove, after about ten (admittedly extensive) days of usage, which causes it to not seem to engage fully 100% of the time. Additionally, the ribs have a tendency to come loose from the canopy during the course of normal usage, although they appear to snap back into place without problem. All in all, it is an excellent product, for the price. If I were looking for an umbrella that I wasn't planning on using quite frequently, I think that this would be a perfect fit. Unfortunately, I think that the build quality on this item is slightly less than I would want from an umbrella that I will be using for multiple hours a day, opening and closing several dozen times per session.

This is an amazing umbrella. Very sturdy and gives good coverage. I didn't realize I was ordering a larger/golf umbrella. But it's great in a heavy rain and I walk a ways on campus. It's very long when folded up.

We spend all summer long at the baseball field with our sons - in the blazing sun on hot metal bleachers. We've used a large, multi-colored "golf" umbrella in the past, but the sun shines through the material and we're still hot. I discovered this SunTek umbrella here on Amazon a few weeks ago and ordered it right away. It's even better than I had hoped, and has made hot days in the sun much better. The outside is made of a silver material, which reflects the sun. The inside is black, which helps create shade, and doesn't bounce the sun from bleachers back into our faces. It's plenty big enough for two people to sit under (even in chairs), and it seems to be made well. We've had rain and wind a few times, and the umbrella held up without turning inside out or soaking us. This is definitely worth the cost, and several people have asked me where I got it. Edited Oct 11 2013: I just ordered a second one since my husband and I often have to go to separate ball fields with our boys. I'm very happy with this product.

I bought this umbrella for protection from the sun at all our grandkids sporting events. It has been beyond anything I could have expected in that regard. It is large and the material deflects the sun and keeps you cool. I also found out right away how sturdy it would be in a severe rain storm. My granddaughter and I recently got caught in a summer rain storm at the US Air Force Academy soccer fields in Colo Springs. If you know those fields you know the weather comes over the foothill mountains there and really can be severe. The umbrella was amazing. The wind was whipping around and the umbrella held up, never faltered and got us safely to the car. The wind tried to bend it but the layers of material kept it in place. I saw many umbrellas flipping inside out and breaking with canopy covers flying across the fields. I love this umbrella so much I think I will purchase another one to have as a spare.

I was hesitant in ordering an umbrella specifically for the sun because I was not entirely sure that it would make as much of a difference in the heat as worth the trouble of carrying around and managing an umbrella. I have a golf cart that I push around while I play disc golf and I bought an arm mount for it that can hold an umbrella for sun shade. I was not sure if this umbrella or the entire idea itself would work out but I decided to give it a shot because it gets so hot down here that every now and then some shade is nice. This umbrella went above my expectations. Since I mount it to my cart, I am under it while I pushing the cart which is frequently through the course and that gives me enough time under it to notice a difference. Let me just say, it's REALLY nice! The top is reflective which I assume reflects the light and thus a lot of the heat ( I'm not a scientist ). The bottom is blue which I think goes a long way to make you feel cool as blue is a cooling water color. Also, the handle fits perfect into my umbrella mount and even has a flat edge on two sides which allows it to be braced in the mount more properly than a rounded handle. I recommend this product for mounting to a golf cart or jogger like I have, and I also recommend it to be used as a carry umbrella for the sun because it is not heavy or cumbersome at all.

El paraguas lo compramos porque se menciona que es para dos personas. Pero la verdad si es muy grande, podría decir que es para dos personas robustas. La estructura se ve muy bien, solida al igual que la tela, parece que soy varias capas y gruesas. Nosotros lo devolvimos por el tamaño, que era excesivo, podían estar 3 personas en el sin problema. Pero nos gustó su calidad que compramos el mismo modelo pero más pequeño. En general recomendable

Works well as an all round umbrella for beach or cold rain. It could be improved with an automatic open button as it is a bit cumbersome to open and it could be engineered to catch better at the top as it can suddenly collapse too when you least expect it. Over all, good buy. Nice quality and comes with a cover sheath. It would be nice if the sheath had a carrying over the shoulder strap on it too but it does not.

I have loved this for golf this summer. Even went inside out and still going strong!!
