The Best AIP Book
Although I was not new to the AIP and had already read the “definitive” literature, I came across this gem of a book and decided to purchase it. I was not disappointed by the succinct, straight to the point, yet friendly style of writing! This book has helped me get through the AIP feeling knowledgeable, empowered and supported. I have read it back to back and have also used it as a reference guide - it became my favourite AIP book.

Fantastic Resource and Easy to Understand!
Eileen Laird was one of the first people I discovered when I began having autoimmune issues. Her podcast and book have been invaluable to me in my ongoing healing journey. This book was easy to read and understand as I began my research into AIP. It is perfect for beginners who may feel overwhelmed with the information overload. I kept this book in my purse for almost a year to use quickly as a resource when menu planning and grocery shopping. I recommend it first and foremost to anyone who asks for help with their autoimmune issues.

If you want to get started quickly
I like reading up about things that interest me. But I have friends and family who don't necessarily want to spend the time diving deep in to the science and history and all the why's, how's and why not's of the autoimmune protocol. This book is a perfect gift for you or a loved one who just wants the CliffsNotes. Don't get me wrong, it has everything you need in order to get started on this exceptionally beneficial, healing, anti-inflammatory way of eating and living. It has the basics of how and why this way of eating works, the underlying scientific principles, the basics of food, what you can eat and what you shouldn’t and why. It breaks down all the other life style modifications that you’ll find helpful along the way. But it also allows you to feel ready to go in a few hours, instead of spending days, week or months doing research. You can still do research after, if you like to nerd out on science. But with this quick guide you can be on the way to health ASAP.

Eileen Laird is an absolutely brilliant author in her delivery of the “Paleo Autoimmune Protocol”
Eileen Laird is an absolutely brilliant author in her delivery of the “Paleo Autoimmune Protocol”. This is one of the best reads on the Do’s and Don’t’s while living AIP that I have read.As the Chief Operations Officer for Paleo On The Go LLC in Largo Florida I constantly find myself responding to customer inquiries as well as responding to staff and being faced with questions that I don’t always have a quick answer to give and this book has become my new best tool. The “Simple Guide”, an almost pocket sized book is a must have for any person following the AIP or Paleo lifestyle. While Eileen’s book is filled with great, factual information it is simple to read, easy to understand and is in common everyday language. Eileen breaks down not only the food portion but gives you step by step instructions and suggestions on how to minimize the effects of living with an autoimmune disease.I highly recommend this book to not only the beginner but also the well seasoned Paleo or AIP individual. I enjoyed this book and believe in its approach so much that I have went so far as to ask our entire administrative/office staff to all read a copy.

Thorough and Comprehensive for AIP Beginners
Finished this book today and it was fabulous! I chose this book over The Paleo Approach because (as the author of this book I am reviewing stated, most people like me have severe 'brain fog') I wanted a fast, easy read without the science. It was thorough and did not leave questions in my mind. I feel equipped to move towards beginning this process. While I was not looking for a recipe or cookbook, there are a few in here. And while they do sound good, I don't think they are super creative as another book I purchased (Autoimmune Wellness). I prefer this book that I am reviewing over the Autoimmune Wellness for providing an overall beginners guide to AIP. The Autoimmune Wellness book was quite detailed (a little too detailed in my mind) BUT the charts of foods allowed and other information was laid out MUCH better and more comprehensive (aesthetically). And the recipes in the Autoimmune Wellness book were very creative. So I will absolutely use both in tandem for my new adventure. Now off to find good cookbooks!

Eileen Laird is the Fairy Godmother of the Autoimmune community in my view. Her blog and podcast at Phoenix Helix are some of the best resources that exist online for those of us with autoimmune and related conditions who are actively seeking to reverse the effects of our disease. This little handbook is, as the title says, a simple guide to the diet and lifestyle that is known as the AIP. The Autoimmune Protocol is a paleo-based diet and lifestyle approach that has proven effective in treating autoimmune related conditions. In true Eileen style, she mobilizes you in this little guide with just enough of what you need in terms of the specifics of the diet: yes foods, no foods and shopping lists. Then she lets you know how to make it easier and how to navigate the bumps in the road. She links back to her blog posts, where her world class (my feelings) journalism fills in the blanks and then some. This guide book makes navigating the AIP doable, and Eileen makes it friend-supported -- as is her way.

A Must-have for People with Autoimmune Disease
WOW! This small book can be easily tucked within your purse or backpack, but don't let its size mislead you. It contains EVERYthing you need to know about the AIP. Laird discusses both food and lifestyle changes, so readers (many of whom have found little help elsewhere) can take a holistic approach to reversing autoimmune disease. (She also explains what it means to "reverse" it and makes very clear that AI is a lifelong condition, never for a moment promising miracles.) Laird's personal success in treating her RA, along with her encouraging tone and easy readability make this a must-have for people who hope to reduce AI symptoms without the risks of potential pharmaceutical side-effects. In her favor also, she does not judge nor condemn such choices. She provides tons of resources, many of them free, and is certainly not going to get rich off of this publication. In other words, she's not in it for the money. I am so grateful that she has invested her time and energy to compile this invaluable resource.

Good, handy review
Good handy guide for quick reference, or for when your brain can't deal with the huge textbook, and when you're needing a refresher. This has it's place but people should know it's no substitute for Sarah Ballantynes book.

It is simple to follow
Full of useful information and suggestion are easy to implement, albeit quite radical. I am following the recommendations and feel better for it.
