I love general finishes
This stain is perfect. The red mahogany color in the can is kind of like merlot wine. It dries pretty dark- close to black- with a hint of red. Application with a foam brush was super easy. Very high quality product and worth the money. And I love buying from a US small business.

This stain is dark
I need a water based stain under epoxy. I had been using Minwax mahogany gel which they seem to have stopped making. The color was a very pleasing red mahogany. I purchased this stain as a replacement and found it to be too dark. Even thinning did not give me a match and it appeared closer to a walnut. I purchased the Minwax replacement, a quick dry solvent based liquid, which I had hoped would work under epoxy. It was even much darker than this product. Apparently the industry has decided that a dark mahogany is all there is going to be. I may need mix my own to match my project.
