Scandalous ...
Desperate for a Jackie Collins style book I stumbled across this, and with some great reviews it looked right up my street and I was not wrong. I have heard great things about Tasmina Perry so it was about time I picked up one of her books and give it a whirl and she is now in my elite chick lit authors. Being a tad sceptical, I did not think Perry was going to live up to the high expectations of being the new Jackie Collins and although I love Jackie's work I do think Tasmina is coming up fast from behind. Now you may wonder why after I said such brilliant things about the author there how she lost a star and yea it was hard to take one off but I have to... she used the C word. Now I'm not a prude and do not oppose to bad language in a book and yes it was used as a sexual reference as opposed to calling someone it but still it really put me off - atonement suffered a similar fate after they did the same. It is a small gripe of mine and do not let it reflect on the rest of the book but I thought I should justify the loss of star. Now on to the book...The book centres round a failing luxury goods company, Milford, which is inherited by a member of the family. Obviously no matter who got the company there was always going to be bad feeling but this ended up almost ruining a family (which is why I think family businesses are a recipe for disaster). What I think was special about this book was the ability to switch characters so well and no lose focus or go too in depth. When trying to write myself I did find this was quite a task and although it seems relatively straightforward I do sometimes find that writers go off in a tangent when engaging in a new character. The plot was very deep from the get go and it never seemed to stop as there was twists and turns in every chapter and it was one of those books that I was dying to finish and didn't want to end. The complex relationships between each of the characters was very cleverly done, and you did get a real feel for the love or hatred, as the case may be, between each of them. This is not a challenging book or one that makes you 'think' but it is scandalous in all the right ways and kept the pages turning. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a light hearted chick lit novel with lots of scandal added in. I will defiantly be reading more Tasmina Perry books in the future.

Gripping read and a great twist for the end
I'll be honest, it did take me a while to read this and seemed to take forever to get into it... BUT this is one of the best books I've read. Once I finally found the time to sit down with the book and just enjoy it, I read it really quickly and the ending is brilliant. There are so many twists and turns throughout the book so you do need to concentrate, but it's worth it. I'd definitely recommend to anyone. I felt like like I could relate to some of the characters as myself, and members of my family. (Not always in a good way, but hey, that's life!)Maybe not one to take on holiday as it is a thick, heavy book... but it is one you should read, especially if you have read and enjoyed the two other books Tasmina did before this. Need to get started on 'Original Sin' now.Keep 'em coming Tasmina.

Guilty Pleasures - Great Read!
I have now read all three books by this author and I believe that this particular book is the best of them all. It would make a great "Holiday?Beach read" - its easy to read (possibly whilst lying on the sunbed at the pool) but also quite gripping as on one occasion I went to bed thinking I'd just read another chapter, to find it was 2.30 a.m. my eyelids closing, but reluctant to put it down - had to find out what happens next. It has suspense, sex, intrigue, jealousy, family rivalries - what else do you want in a great |(if not classic) read?

Can't put it down!
Always a gamble buying a book "blind", but am very pleased with this purchase. I look forward to going to bed with my kindle and catching up with the characters.I'm three quarters through and am already dreading finishing it!!! A good read to end the day, an eye opening and entertaining insight to the workings of the fashion and magazine world,:- catty women, self centred stars and of course a handsome misunderstood rough diamond desperate to be accepted by the beautiful hard working business woman. I will definitely be looking for more books from the same author, very easy to read, (it practically reads itself!) 5***** Thanks Amazon.

Best book I've read in a while.
If you like your "Chick Lit" and have never read Tasmina Perry before I would definately recommend this one. It tells the story of Cassandra Grand and Emma Bailey, cousins who fight for the one thing that their uncle left behind in his will, the Millford empire. The whole book is a thoroughly enjoyable read and you manage to get straight into the story from chapter one. The characters are not perfect but you end up loving them anyway. I read one of her previous books by chance and thought maybe it was a one off but can assure those of you that haven't read this one that's not the case. Great read!!!
