Does the hinge cause any problems when it is laid flat into a bed?

no i havent noticed any difference from up to down. its still strong and very firm. its very heavy.

Is the linen aqua a light or darker blue? In the description photo it looks light, but in the customer reviews photo it looks dark.

It's as shown. True aqua. It's the actual mattress liner not a cover. You'll probably want to get a mattress pad/cover if sleeping on it or a futon cover if used as couch. It's worth the price. Better than the memory foam ones. No chemical odor, slight smell of cedar wood scent for a day or two. Made in the US.. Reccomended.
