No, you step on the pedal and the machine turns on.....when you release your foot off the pedal the machine turns off.

Does it work with the wen 56207 6.5-ton electric log splitter?

check the amperage/wattage of the log splitter. If it's no more than 15A/ 1800 W you're safe. If you don't have the splitter yet, my recommendation would be: don't use it - it's for indoor use anyway.

Is there a way to mount this switch to a piece of wood?

"Where there's a will, there's a way". While it is "possible", this switch is not designed for that purpose. One way (I may try this) requires removing the rubber feet, held in with 4 small screws, transferring the screw hole pattern to your piece of wood, drilling appropriately sized holes in the wood, finding screws of the appropriate length for the wood plus threaded mounting holes, perhaps dding nuts to more securely hold, (requires disassembling the switch) and finally assembling it. Other foot switches have tabs with holes, designed to easily allow mounting to another surface, such as XURUI Momentary Foot Switch XF-3, Single Pedal, 10A .
