Favourite fizz
We had Pelorus at our wedding we loved it so much having tasted it on a visit to the vineyard itself - it's a much more complex flavour than a prosecco, reminiscent of a champagne but less acidic. The rose is even better than the normal Pelorus. I definitely recommend for a special occasion (or as a regular tipple if you are filthy rich, I guess).

love it being dry
The media could not be loaded. I am normally a Red drinker, occasionally Rosé. But this is the first time for us trying a bubbly Rosé. Saved it to enjoy in the Valentine's weekend. My husband usually drinks Red but to my surprise, he likes this one. Different from other Rosé which are normally sweeter in taste, this one is rather dry, less sweet and bubbly. it is 12.5% alc. but it actually seemed stronger than that I actually had to double check it's alcohol percentage. We really liked it and we almost finished the whole bottle in one night. The deep pinkish colour is lovely. It will make a lovely wine for special occasion and as a gift to a friend that love Rosé.

Fruity treat
I was worried this would be too sweet, fortunately it’s a brut so it’s crisp and dry. But it does have quite a fruity flavour, so it’s better with lighter food really. Just my opinion but I wouldn’t have this with cheese for instance, or a casserole. It would be ideal with birthday cake, or salad in the summer. However, it’s lovely on its own as a treat or for a bit of a celebration (remember those?! Not many around with third lockdown...)It has a delicate fizz to it, a good steady stream of bubbles, which don’t fade away. It’s one step up from Prosecco to my mind but not yet a champagne. So for almost £25, this is one to consider if you want a treat. Not cheap, but it looks good and tastes good, I’ll be looking at Cloudy Bay again for a celebration bottle.

Way too dry
😕I was so looking forward to this sparking rose. I really had high hopes. But sadly I was really disappointed. So tonight we opened the bottle as it was my husbands day off. My husband is a chef and has also worked with people with very expensive wine cellars so he has a lot of experience in expensive wines although we generally stick to a bottle of Asti at home. 🍷Myself, my husband and daughter all poured ourselves a glass. The smell is very strong, more like a champagne or a very dry sparkling wine. On tasting, it is so very dry. Far more dry than I would expect a rose to be and particularly a sparkling rose, from the fruity description I expected it was going to be more of a wine cooler, spritz but it does taste like a very dry champange. The wine really is not to our taste, although my daughter drank all of hers, and will no doubt finish the rest of the bottle tomorrow! So sadly it wasn't for us, but if you like a very dry sparling wine or champagne then you will probably enjoy this. 😕

Lovely colour and perfect with light fish dishes
Cloudy Bay has built up an impressive reputation as a high-quality vineyard and wine producer. We’ve tried a number of their wines over the years and we were therefore very keen to try their Pelorus sparkling rose.We were not disappointed! There is a very small group of people with such a refined palate so they can truly judge wines and we think that there is too much of the emperors new clothes when it comes to wine reviews. Some cheaper ones don’t fear as well as they perhaps should when it comes to industry awards, and some more expensive wines seem to fair better than we think they should. This is why we like to try wines from a range of suppliers, vineyards, regions, countries and of course different grape varieties. We have never found a cloudy Bay that we didn’t like and we’ve always been impressed and more than happy to finish the bottle. This rose is no exception and whilst you can get cheaper Prosecco or more expensive champagne we think that this really fits nicely between these two irrespective of the sophistication of your palate. We really enjoyed trying the sparkling rose and would definitely consider re-purchasing. This would make a lovely addition at the dinner table perhaps with a fish starter for when the lockdown is eventually lifted and families can reunite. We would definitely recommend this sparkling rose especially if you or your guests prefer rose but that said the normal pelorus sparkling wine is just as good.

Rich, delicious rosé
This is certainly a quality rosé, and very drinkable indeed. The colour and presentation is quite understated, and it’s a wine that doesn’t draw attention to itself, with a mild fizz. It’s when you actually taste it that you properly notice it, look at it and say “ooh that’s rather nice”.It’s not too sweet. There’s a rich fruitiness to it, not just the sweet tooth strawberry type but also a slightly deeper and richer, blackberry-like quality that can be appreciated by drinking it slowly. But it’s far from bitter, and if you want to drink it as a celebratory fizz, it will also do that job very successfully as well. Even people who aren’t normally fans of wine might well appreciate that this is a good one. There are two very prosaic ways I sometimes use to judge wine. One is the price per bottle, which I can’t comment on at the moment as the price isn’t visible on the site, but this is certainly a league above most everyday brands, and I would estimate it belongs in the twenty-to-thirty-quid bracket. The other way is to judge how much of a headache I have the morning after- the better the wine, the lesser the headache- and on that somewhat plebian metric, it scores very highly as well. It’s a bright, fun wine that hits all the right notes, with a classiness to boot. I can’t think of any reason to fault it.
