This is exactly what I wanted! Not a modern day interpretation of the word, but the original meaning and spelling. All words have 3 consonants, as it used to be. Very useful for studying scripture.

Wow! Such an introduction by a jewelry store owner (I thank you for this extra interest) in another city! This book can keep me busy for the rest of my days, in my humble quest to learn & to understand Biblical Hebrew. I can read a passage, & then turn to this Dictionary for further enlightenment; or I can just read several pages of the Dictionary for the information & insights of Hebrew words in the Biblical language, the nuances of meanings, & then back to Biblical texts containing the words' usage. Also, it is one volume & a physically manageable size book to be useful.

I bought this book because I want to better understand the framework for the Hebrew language. In particular, I am interested in the letter meanings and the meanings of the roots. I think this book will be a very unique and valable tool.My only gripe is with the printing. The first book I ordered had to be returned because some pages had been printed twice. This copy is fine, but some pages have areas where the ink is lighter. There definitely seems to be an issue with the printer. The paper and binding are all great otherwise. I'm keeping this copy because all the words are legible, even the areas where it is somewhat faded.

This book is essential for understanding the biblical hebrew language. Recent editions were not compiled correctly but now they are back on track.

The BEST tool for learning Biblical Hebrew more in depth. This is the one book I would not give up when reading the bible in Hebrew. It's very easy to use, concise and to the point. Wherever my bible goes, this goes also! It's all about the "root words" and how many meanings they can have. I also have "The Analytical Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon" which is great if you want to look up a word directly from the Hebrew Tanakh, with every word letter by letter, every verb conjugation, etc. But it's also "harder on the eyes". If you're seriously studying, you need both. But this Etymological Dictionary is by far the most needful, especially when getting started. Once you begin delving into Hebrew, you can never have enough dictionaries. Praise the Lord, there are now so many tools out there. But Rabbi Hirsch's is definitely a "must have".

This Etymological Dictionary was recommended to me by a full blooded Hebrew Israeli. She is fluent in Hebrew and English. I was looking for a more accurate English rendering of Hebrew root words. I don't always trust "Strong's Concordance" . I use this dictionary every day! It is amazing. I highly recommend this for the serious Hebrew Bible student who wants to dig deeper into the Word of G-d in its original language.

If students of the real "Biblical Kabbalah" wanted a Dictionary for their studies, then THIS would be it. Yes there's a Real and Godly Kabbalah and the morons of Hollyweird, CA steer away from it.But its not a "Harry Potter" magical incantational type of volume...and that's why. Any books on Kabbalah out there in the market will have to always take a backseat, not only to this Volume, but also to the Shefa-Tal by Shabtai Sheftel Horowitz and a few others. As a Jew who knows Yeshua the Dark-Black Messiah of Israel, this is a necessary addition to the having of the "Salkinson-Ginsburg Hebrew New Testament."
