Does the image quality deteriorate over time as the unit is used due to dust on the sensor?

I scanned around 1800 slides et 3000 color negatives . The photos are now in my MacBook. And I can assure you that I am very pleased with the quality of my new digital photos. My slides and my negatives were in boxes protected from the dust ( since 1973 ). Be sure they are clean using the little brush on them.

Do you need to connect to a computer to use this or can you take the sd card out and upload files that way?

It is powered via a USB socket which is the main reason I have it plugged into the computer but it could be plugged into any USB socket.. You can remove the SD card and upload without the whole unit being plugged into a computer.

Can the Kodak scanner be used without a computer?

Yes the scan will save to your own SD card plugged into scanner. The card can thren be used to display or save in another device. In practice this will often be a computer because you may wish to save lots of images as you scan them. You may also want to make a copy of the image on a computer to edit or email to others. You can view the image on the scanner screen. I think you must remember that modern cameras and phones produce excellent quality images. This scanner is making a copy of a dated slide and therefor the quality wont be up to modern standards. However image quality is not the only important thing. Memories recoverd to be seen by other family members are important whatever the quality.

Is it compatible with windows 11

I use Windows 10. It's a very simple device so I would assume that it will work with just about anything.
