YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW HOW THE STORY BEGAN...!!!
Chiun was having a normal day in his small village in Korea. It was winter and the temperatures were plummeting (though, as the Master of Sinanju he never felt the cold) … no students as they were all incompetent or unable to learn the way … no new emissaries from powerful kings or dictators … and he was alone. Until the American came to his home and made him an offer to train a dead man. And so the journey began...We all know the story of Remo Williams and his journey to becoming the elite assassin that he would eventually realize. But, until now, we never knew how Chiun's part of the adventure began. Written entirely from the Master of Sinanju's point of view, the story revisits the beginnings of the adventure and some surprising revelations about the Master himself.Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir sat down in 1962 creating a world and characters that would introduce the US to the little known martial art of karate. The story didn't sell right away going through different iterations incorporating elements of mythology and mysticism until 1970 when the story found a home. Now... 49 years and 150 plus books later … The Destroyer remains a fan favorite and continues to address current issues in its own unique way. This is a wonderful addition to the legend that is the Destroyer giving readers old and new a fun insight into the world of Sinanju.

eighty five pages
Just a heads up, this is a novella. Maybe a way to introduce someone to the story line, but don't expect a full adventure. Reads OK, but since I cant get to library/bookstores right now, I really needed something with more meat to it.

This is the first book in the series you should read.
I have only read about a half dozen of the books in the series so far and there has always been questions as to how the relationship between Reno and Chiun came to evolve. The fact that Chiun broke tradition and agreed to train a white was brought on by a misunderstanding of Remo's so called death. The prophecy is fulfilled of a foreigner who has died and comes back is initiated by Chiun as the tries to teach Remo he isn't as good as he thinks. At this point Chiun realizes that Remo is the one from the prophecy and even though he won't admit it he has fatherly feelings for him.

Loving this series
Kindle binging this series. Some parts a little dated, but still a good read. Kindle edition great, I'm not a nitpicker, didn't notice any spelling or grammar errors, but when I'm into a story, I just focus on the story itself.

Destroyer - Remo & Chiun
I have been reading the series since the series was first printed. The individual books were quick to read and easy to enjoy. The repartee between Remo & Chiun are continuously funny. The relationships between the 2 were well defined and refined over the decades by Murphy & Sapir.I enjoyed the latest Destroyer #0. The only real discrepancy in this short story was the first assignment for Remo. It does differ from the description in Destroyer #1 (written over 4 decades ago).Chiun doesn't like to brag so he lets his actions speak . . . like the 410 yard putt that rimmed the cup.The action is superb, the language is clean, and the interactions between Dr. Harold Smith (the Director of CURE and a hospital, as well), Remo, and Chiun provide a humorous insight to human nature.Having read at least 95% of the 130-plus book series, this story did not disappoint me for a well-spent 2 hours.

GOOD FAST READ
If you liked the movie “Remo Williams, The Adventure Begins,” then you will most probably like this short FREE book. If you have not seen the movie then read the book and you will search for the movie to watch. The guy dodges bullets. What’s not to like. However, now I have to read some other books in the series. Good stuff here. Read it.

Quality always remains
I first read these books shortly after they came out and loved them. Although into my senior years the quality has in my opinion stood the test of time. I particularly enjoy the nuances between Remo and The Trainer. The action and story lines speak for themselves. This series is on my Desert Island books list. The only trouble I have is which of the 50 odd stories is my favourite.

great
Excellent resumption of this series. It reminded me of the many hours spent happily reading. There are several laugh out loud moments. Hopefully the first of many more.

Remo reborn
Always liked the Remo books, had many of them in the 80's some bought for 30 old pence. Made the mistake of giving them away not thinking I would read again. I really got into reading with this series

Happy memories
I first read these books when they came out originally. I was very gratified that they have stood the test of time. I enjoyed this, and a couple more in the series, just as much now as I did then. Interesting characters, good plots and a sense of humour. What more could you want?
