As NodeMCU products go, the Wemos D1 mini is a great example. It has decent amount of GPIO's exposed, an on board USB to serial UART (the 8266 doesn't have native USB) and a reset button. This V3 version also has the 8266 direct on the PCB, not as an added on module which brings the overall size/thickness down considerably.There's a whole ecosystem of compatible addons (hats, shields, breakout boards. whatever you want to call them) for the D1 range to make just about any general IoT/Home Automation project viable for not a lot of money.This is just a standard product that's packaged up and resold by AZ Delivery so the overall quality is the same as any other however they do appear to have a decent supply source from the original producer (rather than the multitude of clones out there) and there is a layer of added QA to weed out bad ones before they send them on.AZdelivery has their own distinct packaging which also includes a flyer for their product info website that has all the details for how to use it, code examples and project suggestions. it's not Adafruit level but several orders of magnitude better than 99% of suppliers of electronic hobby widgets (most of wich will be lucky to send you the product in an anti-static bag or with any other shipping protection for that matter!)

Made all sorts of things out of these little boards from sensors to controllers. obviously having some knowledge is and advantage but plenty of YouTube videos out there to explain it all. Great!

works perfectly with a WLED + hyperion setup. Will order more to add more led strips around the house.

Firstly these are clones and have only a 150ma 3.3v regulator on board instead of a recommended 500ma. For 5v/usb connection. Be wary of how much total current you are using to drive outputs.No problem when interfacing to bmp280, ht1750, optocoupled 5v relay boards.Easy to flash/load firmware like micropython, Tasmota. No pins should be connected directly to a 5v Arduino, use a level translator PCB available for about 50p.For a stable and guaranteed operation I would recommend using a 4.5 - 30v adj.switching/buck regulator set to 3.3v and use to supply the 3.3v pin rather than the 5v circuit

These items come well packed in individually wrapped antistatic plastic. Many types of pinsfor solder options. Only used the first one but works as expected. I am having some difficulty identifying pinouts to use as it differs from the arduino, but will get there. Good deal for three. Delivered quickly.

A useful (almost) clone of the ESP8266 powered D1 Mini board. If this has sufficient resources for a project, there’s nothing to be gained from using a more expensive ESP32. The one drawback of this board is that the 5V pin can’t be used to power it; it only accepts power from the USB port. If I’d known this before soldering the pins, I would have returned it and shelled out the few extra £ for a genuine D1 Mini.

Work as they should straight out of the box. Good choice of headers to cover most requirements
