Opposites (Boynton on Board) Board book – Illustrated, 30 Nov. 1982

I am a Sandra Boynton fan and my four-year-old son has several of her books. I bought this one for my 18-month-old and he already likes it. It is good because he is too young to follow a story, but he loves looking at the pictures and turning the pages. The cardboard is sturdy, which allows him to play with the book without help, and the pictures are really cute. Besides it helps to build new vocabulary (small, short, tall; high, low; fast, slow; heavy, light; day,night; in, out; whisper, shout; weak, strong; right, wrong; hot, cold; young, old; wet, dry; hello and goodbye). We've had our copy for six months and it is in excellent condition. I can say the same of Boynton's The Going to Bed Book, which has been with us for 3 years and has been a favourite all this time, and after reading it several times every night to one or the other child, it is still in one piece and the pages have not worn out. After buying "Opposites" for my son I have purchased another copy for a friend's toddler and he seemed to like it too. I highly recommend it if you like Sandra Boynton's style.

Another great Sandra Boynton book- I'm gradually buying the collection - my little one is a complete bookworm and I'm quite picky which kids books I like. So far loved all of hers- great illustrations and a fun read (even on a daily basis )

Este libro le encanta a mi hija, las ilustraciones y lo intuitivas que son hacen que entienda fácilmente lo que se quiere transmitir. Ella todavía no lee, pero se lo leo yo y habiéndolo visto en varias ocasiones, ya es capaz de reproducir alguno de los adjetivos que vienen. Seguiremos comprando libros de esta autora.

Sandra Boynton has written this book wisely. Two consecutive pairs of opposite words contain rhyming words as well. (eg. Big×Small - Short×Tall, In×Out - Whisper×Shout). Illustrations are good enough for toddlers to understand the concept. Board book having pages with pastel colour background is sturdy. The book is light weighted and perfectly sized to carry it anywhere.

Unser Sohn ist jetzt knapp 5 Monate alt und wir schauen schon regelmäßig Bücher mit ihm an. Er wird nicht zweisprachig erzogen, aber das ein oder andere englischsprachige Kinderbuch besitzen wir dennoch und dieses hier ist wirklich super! Sehr schöne Zeichnungen - so witzig, dass ich wirklich jedes Mal schmunzeln muss beim Ansehen! Die Reime sind auch toll, unser Kleiner hört und schaut jedes Mal fasziniert zu! Ich werde uns im Laufe der nächsten Jahre bestimmt noch die anderen Bücher von Sandra Boynton für unseren Zwerg zulegen.

My kids love Boynton's books! The illustrations are very well done. My kids love them all. The text is always nice and the quality of the books is great! We have 6 of her books and my kids are always asking us to buy more! =) This book is very nice to teach the opposites to young babies! I highly recommend her books!

I bought this and other books without knowing it. And I must say that it's by far better than expected. All the other Sandra Boynton books are already on my shopping list. Such lovely illustrations and simple but funny rhymes. :)

This book sufficiently shows opposites, however this is no story to go with it. It's just "High, low.", "Fast, slow." etc.; with pictures. The illustrations are cute though.

Weiterzuempfehlen!Arbeite damit im Englischunterricht in der Grundschule. Super geeignet dafür. Macht den Kids Spaß. Durch die Bilder ist der Wortschatz sehr leicht einzuprägen

Meine Tochter liebt diese Zeichnungen. Man kann natürlich das auch auf deutsch lesen. Wir wechseln uns immer ab. Sehr schön gemacht. Bucht auch für kleine Hände geeignet. Hält auch viel aus.

I find that my 4 year old was a tiny bit bored by it, but it would be great to teach a much younger one about the theme. Also, the pictures are cute.

Leider ist das Buch ziemlich klein, nur 14 cm!Dies habe ich übersehen, der Fehler liegt also bei mir. Allerdings ist es dadurch vor einer größeren Gruppe Kinder schlecht einsetzbar.

Ein weiteres tolles Buch von Sandra Boynton, von der wir bei bisher rund 10 englischen Kinderbüchern nicht enttäuscht wurden. Eine schöne Geschichte mit, von ihr gewohnter, Bebilderung. Insgesamt ein absolut zu empfehlendes englisches Kinderbuch. Wir werden definitiv auch weiterhin auf einige ihrer Bücher zurückgreifen.PS: Ja, es ist die gleiche Bewertung, wie bei einigen anderen Kinderbüchern von ihr. Aber warum das Rad neu erfinden?

I don't find this book particularly fun to read, and therefore it isn't one that gets read all that often. I do however like the idea of teaching little ones about opposites, so this is why I gave it a 3/5

We have this book in both English and Spanish and my daughter absolutely adores it. The bright colors, the fun characters, and that simple bold graphics keep children interested in these books.

All of Sandra Boynton's books are delightful. A baby or toddler will love this author. Her books are mostly short and have very nice pictures to go with the story.
